Some updates-Leslie's own brother testified against her. Yes, the taxicab driver was questioned and was not sure but said the woman, heavy-set, acted oddly. The 3 people in Bakersfield that took video footage and had her on their home surveillance camera that documented the woman got out of the cab, went into a now torn down Starbucks and came out in different clothes also testified. The taxicab driver dropped her off close to her home but she did not go directly home but into the Starbucks into the restroom there where she changed her clothes and then headed back home. Her oldest daughter-the one who claimed her mother was at home working that day and was considered a 'hostile witness' also had a bit of a change of heart in the direction against her mother when testifying. She stated in her testimony that she refused to look at any of the surveillance videos when asked to view them as 'it did not matter' and since others said it was her mother, could not 'handle' viewing them and as the eldest daughter, did not want her sisters viewing them either which is why none of the daughters viewed them initially, The trial depicted above was a 2nd trial as the first trial was declared a mistrial due to prosecutor 'conflict of interest. Leslie Chance took out four life insurance policies-not one-on her husband a few weeks before the murder and tried to claim on all four totaling 1/2 million not too long after his death. She also gained more education and made more money than her husband and considered him 'lazy' and unambitious since he stayed at the same company doing the same kind of work throughout their marriage. She had been on administrative leave since August 2016 not just because of this but there were some other issues of concern. The elementary school would not discuss them as they don't discuss personnel or disciplinary matters. After the verdict, they moved quite quickly to terminate her. After Todd's death, it was clear to everyone she did not give a shit that he was dead, had no impact on her at all and she never shed a single tear over it, Also odd that during all the time she was on leave of address from her employment, she did not make any effort to find other work.

Not many people actually tell others when they find their partner having an affair (emotional affair is still an affair, shit talking your partner to your ap is worse). I would in my head dream about murdering them, but i would take my time planning how to ruin their life while leaving them instead. Lawyer will let you know if your plans will backfire and consequences if its not a viable option for you to win. If you shut up, prep and research while waiting for everything to be ready, and act like their is nothing affecting you, you can ghost your soon to be ex successfully
@ShannyShan20 Жыл бұрын
@@heatheraemathews You know, towards the end of the Dateline episode, the Contacts were the cherry on top for me also. I had missed the very beginning and by the time they arrested her the first time, I thought, WTH? Why are they arresting her? But I have to say, when she and the father in law were waiting to pick up the car and he broke down crying, the wife(killer)did nothing to comfort him, not reach out to even touch his shoulder and altho at that point I wasn't thinking it was her, because I hadn't quite tuned in to my sixth sense yet(which is usually on point btw)but when I saw that, my senses kicked in and I thought 'ok, something ain't right, who doesn't at least, touch a loved ones shoulder, especially when it's an older dad breaking down about his son and it's only been 4 days and also, she's not even upset?' And all she can say is something about getting hubby's cell phone back! By the end, my instinct was right! And she really convinced herself(and daughters)that she's innocent! Like most narcissists! She's just cold-blooded!

Can't believe she was convicted on that CCTV. Should have been more thoroughly investigated. I'm not saying she is innocent, just that if you're going to be locked up for 50years I would expect a higher standard of proof. Also, her attorney was a complete nob
@reignman303 жыл бұрын
It wasn't just that, that was just part of the puzzle. There were like 10 other circumstantial things that pointed right at her. It had to be her. I swear nobody paid attention to this one.

The trial is not covered in this. There was more than just CCTV.

Plenty of cases are solved without cctv that was just one element of the whole case.why lie about working in the morning?

Who takes your gun, kills you dumps the body one place and the car another. Hides the gun in the car under a mat. Sounds like a female. A man would throw the gun in water bury it, or sell it. Now could be any female but how would a female get it from him.

Lol was it the judge in the Ted Bundy trial that said "a defendant that uses themselves for an attorney has a fool for a client"? Or something along those lines? But oh yea, you can always defend yourself in court.

I’m a retired lawyer and I think he did a good job with what he had - based on this video.

@@rolfdenver if the jury saw everything, all the evidence we did, which he surely showed them, then yea it was all on the jury after that. To me, it was not proven beyond a reasonable doubt. And after 8 days of deliberation they clearly had some problems coming to a guilty verdict.

Right? Sometimes humor is needed when talking about the heavy topics that this channel is all about. A lot of folks think it's disrespectful to insert humorous quips, but they're clearly narrow-minded.
