As always Maggie controlled the interview. No softballs here. She gave it right back. The world misses her.

What a terrific interviewee. Wonderful American panel handled marvelously by your PM. Puts to shame modern newspanels in the U.S. except for Judges O'Connor, Thomas, and Scalia we have practically no serious speakers who can tame interviewers. Really enjoyed it.

Geesh...the accuracy always turns her attackers into students 😂. Look at them near the end of the interview, sitting like grade schoolers before a university president visiting classroom. She's legendary and iconic ❤

I cannot think of a politician today that who has actual positions and opinions like thatcher did. Today politicians just deflect and avoid answering questions because they either don’t know or have no spine.

Does anybody have the link to Margaret Thatcher's first long interview after she was ousted as PM? I thought it was made around 1994, and in it she delivered heavy critique on the Major Goverment.

You don't see serious political interviews like this anymore. Nowadays they're all seem to be just a series of hostile 'gotcha' questions.

Brilliant tough P.M. she would have sorted out the problems of immigration and the EU debacle.

Bryn Miller Why did She sign the Single European Act then?

There is a different between a single european market and the single currency. U do understand that right?
@critic1888 жыл бұрын
There was quite a considerable social angle to the Act actually.

James....There is a difference between that and the European Union of today though right? The European Union as we know it today was joined by Britain after Thatcher was PM. It's very clear from numerous statements of hers that she was massively opposed to a "federal Europe" and it's power centralised in Brussels as it is now e.g. "No, no, no". It's well known that her downfall was due to her disdain towards closer assimilation with Europe...Had she remained as PM for a few more years then Britain would never have joined the EU the way Major's government did. I think that's pretty clear and it's also one of the best compliments I could give her - alongside rolling back socialism's poisonous tentacles.

If only we had her now. She explains very well the choices she had with tax, spending, borrowing, reform of public services, and how she dealt with them. Good interviewers too. Was this before or after her re-election in June 1983?

She was definitely in a bad mood. She seemed to be on a short fuse in this interview.
