Hard to beat the value of the GR86, it’s a lot of car. People I think get lost in the power number and automatically assume it’s trash purely based on that. These things are incredibly fun to take just about anywhere. And as someone who has finally started to watch Initial D, this is a really cool throw back to the AE86 but with modern style.

None of them interesting, no fun engine configurations, no fun sport and weight configurations, no fun suspension configurations. The car lets be honest, just like its twin brothers is going to be interesting to own cause of value proposition but the markups are going to be way too high.

For more practical buyers, you can get a Performance Package starting in 2024 that adds the dampers and Brembos that are on this car. So if you wanna get close enough to this without paying the Trueno markup, just get a white premium with the performance pack.

*Subaru did a great job with this car, pop the hood and look under it at the suspension and it's Subraru tech through and through, GR did a great job being a tuner and putting some decals and stiffer shocks on it, and Toyota took some of the financial burden by agreeing to pay for the rights to help bring it to market, just like the Zupra - new Z4 clown shoe.

I’m not sure what improvement they are going to offer unless you have a really bumpy track. Mine are great for road driving and on the track tires are going to be far more important than the strut so long as it’s not a blown strut. I run RE71-RS’s on the track and yes a better strut would help me slightly, but honestly stiffer springs would be far more improvement but they would be so stiff as to destroy street-ability, but if I had those stiff springs then better struts would be needed. But for stock, it’s a good balance. You aren’t going to over power the springs/struts with stock street tires though.

imo i think the external appearance is a bit lackluster, would've been better if the side stripes were made longer and the sideskirts were also part of the trim. another thing i'd change is the bonnet, if they wanna go for the carbon fibre bonnet then they should use carbon fibre, not fake it. the internals of this car though, absolutely fantastic. it'll be good to see where this goes.

You forgot to mention that this Trueno edition (along with the 2024+ GR86’s) will now get the eyesight safety system/adaptive cruise control with the manual transmissions (only the autos got them before in the 2022-2023). Which is not a good thing imo but still an important model change to point out. I believe it will be the same case for the 2024+ BRZ variant as well. Although, I’m not sure if it will be a standard option for both trims of both cars or just the higher trims…

I had a tuned FRS on e85, the gr86 is faster stock by a noticable amount, not only that but every aspect of the car has been refined. Worth the upgrade if you're in the market, no need for tuning and peace of mind with warranty.

Bad news brothers. Apparently the oiling issues are worse than just the RTV thing, there is also news of a massive and repeatable oil pressure loss in right hand turns. Dropping from 55psi, to 25psi mid-corner, at 6000+ RPM... But hey, I like that 360 camera setup!

if anything it could use higher compression pistons, inconel headers ,and a bit more cam and thats about it. the gr's main thing is throttle response; don't mess with it by using forced induction(unless it happens to be n2o or meth injection)

Yep same with the Miata, the chassis is fine with the regular power. I do wish there were more folks doing swaps with them though. There's no denying it would be quite a bit more fun with an old yet built STi engine in it! Same with the Miatas with the GM V6 and V8 swaps.
