Evan is one of my favorite KZbinrs because he goes through so much but he stays so strong about all of it. I definitely look up to him and love his advice at the end of his videos it really helps me out a lot!

Mines close to 500 and it hasn't grenade yet, don't know if the short shifter is helpful but it still feels super crisp like new. Before the short shifter it felt like driving a semi, long slow shifts...

I was looking at that t56 swap in particular, how close does the shifter land compared to stock location? Did you keep the stock 3.73 rear gear? And the t56 you got, is the gearing similar to the stock w55? Was it a direct swap or a lot cutting, banging,, and fanagling?

the ge vvti has little dinky rods it will not hold too long unless its very well tuned on low boost or ethanol. the non vvti blocks are the ones who mostly share all the parts except the turbo blocks have oil squirters. on the other hands vvti heads flow way better. so the ideal setup for NAT is a non vvti block with a vvti head.

I would say for the heavy ass motor they have and 5 seats they aren’t bad.. weigh as much as a 2 seater 350z lol but after 3000lbs a cars pretty much in boat territory but that’s majority cars

I think you'd like my is300 a little bit more, more drivable, it's not slammed that hard.. it's on tein super streets at the right recommended tein ride height.. Mines a na-t vvti what came withthe car, I was running the stock 10.5:1 pistons for a while on 93 with vp octanium. Eagle rods, arp head and main studs, 20psi, no problems... I've got the w55 no problems yet either but I know it's coming... Mines on a microsquirt with the stock ecu for all the other fun stuff I still need. New pistons should be here in a few weeks, I have a biggins gt45 I'm trying for ish and giggles then, and im currently building the surge tank for it. Hopefully by the end of May I'll be able to rip it. Trust me I'll try n bother you to drive it

@@imnota it's not installed yet, it's a ish and giggles turbo. Just curious where everything will cap out at. I'm mainly talking about suspension not being slammed and where the power is right now, not where I'm going with it. I currently have a precision 62-62 on it now so basically anything over 55-5800 falls off and gets kinda choked out. It's crazy responsive tho, 80 mm throttle body, modified port matched "greddy"style forward facing intake manifold, it's instant power. Boost controller hits 15-20psi by 3000 and holds until 5500ish...

W58 draws the line at 400hp and that line lowers a few points for every burnout or launch you do with that 2J

@@midlifeparty it definitely is. I used to have a manual IS300 and the transmission felt clunky and had a whine to it. And it only had 50k miles on it. I have an altezza now and the j160 feels much better to drive

Yeah, my w55 is300 makes a loud thump going into 1st gear and feels like my fkn ford ranger in the shifting department. Won’t even mention about how annoying it can be with an unsynchronized reverse. I’ll take it any day over an auto slush box tho

My grandma had an IS300 charcoal grey, navigation, the bells and whistles. It had about 110k miles on it. I actually took it to prom. My grandma instead of selling it to me... traded it into the dealer for 3500$ trade in value. We still give her shit about it lol.

@@Junkeiz That’s essentially how much my auto was. 3500 for near mint body and interior. only thing was that it had an oil leak and the engine had 160k miles back in 2017. the guy who sold it said it got hit in the back right passenger door but they replaced the door with a new OEM one and repainted the car. and it came slammed with a set of vordoven wheels also

I would link the videos here but I hardly doubt anyone would understand the language. We got a guy in my country, in europe a rather well known engine builder, (by now he only take jobs that he likes and are challenges for him) guy is a fucking wizard with the 2jz (900-1200 whp on pumpgas kind of wizard). And so he held a lecture at an engineering university explaining how the 2J is the undistractable piece of Japanese engineering that it is, and he elaborated in high detail that, for most applications it doesn't matter to the slightest whether you got a GE or a GTE and where it starts to matter the GE block is even better cause it has less failure points in the oil system.

@thatdudeinblue the 2jz-ge vvti motors have thinner rods than the non vvti motors so they can't hold nearly as much boost. Most people usually swap non vvti rods into the vvti motors

I have a 2002 IS300 and i love it, except that its an auto. Im gonna put a CD009 or R154, does anyone have any tips to make it fit in the transmission tunnel and the shifter fit into the stock shifter hole? Also at 4:00 the VVTi GE engines have much thinner con rods and weaker ringlands. Stock GE bottom end can hold ~350-380hp depending on condition of engine and tune. However the non VVTi bottom end can hold 500-550hp because it has much stronger rods than the VVTi

The reason you can put so much power through a 2J or 1j is because of the forged crank and pistons . 99% of other cars use cast parts instead .

@@lomon3877 I know, I probably should have mentioned that the crank and the rods are forged and are of extremely high quality and durability. I own several 3S-GTEs, a 1UZ-FE, a 1JZ-GTE TT and a 2JZ-GTE TT - all forged bottom ends aside from hypereutectic pistons and over the years I’ve only ever cracked two ringlands. One decades ago on a 3S and the other on the 1J. At the time I made that comment I had just broken the ringland on the 1J and wasn’t super happy about it 😂

The Supra and the IS300 2JZGE is NOT the same! The N/A Supra has the same bottom end as the GTE but with different pistons but all other N/A 2JZ has weaker rods. If I'm not misinformed 😬
