The Ford GT40 and Ford GT have definitely left a lasting legacy in the automotive world. Built to have one goal - beat Ferrari at their own game. However it wouldn't be until 2016 until the Ford GT would make a return to form and take on the Italian giant once again. Ford used Mazda (That they owned back then) to really test the Ecoboost engines before releaseing them, the engines in the Mazdaspeed 3, Mazdaspeed6, and CX-7 were all basically test beds for the Ecoboost.

Fun fact, the Ford Gt was in the "middle" power setting of 700hp at the Sonoma Raceway press release. Thats only 40 more hp than the standard GT. It has a "high" power setting of 800hp.

Damn, I still gotta play it! I watched a friend play it once when I was a kid, but I could never get hold of a copy. I'm currently re-playing Hot Pursuit 2 for the bazillionth time. I can finally play it on PC again through Lutris (which also allowed me to play Need for Speed II for the first time since playing it at the daycare), since I switched to Linux. I have the GameCube version too, but it's not quite the same cause they translated the cop radio calls and the car information to German in the German GameCube version, whereas in the German PC version, they left the original audio with all the various American dialects in. It was great fun growing up and understanding a little bit more of what they're saying every time I picked up the game again 😅 I also highly recommend the remaster of Hot Pursuit (2010). It's also a great game, also features the F1 and it even has active online play! The entire Hot Pursuit series is just pure gold and if they made another one, I would even ore-order despite the recent state of the franchise!

Someone doesn’t understand how Lemans works… The Ford GT won in the GTE-PRO class once in 2016, Porsche won the race with the 919 Hybrid. To ‘win’ Lemans you have to win overall in the top class LMH/LMdH (used to be LMP1)

Ford doesn't even begin to measure up against pedigrees like that. I love the GT40s, but the Ford GT doesn't get any more respect from me than a 488 GTB, V8 Vantage, or a 911 GT3. They're all Le Mans winners if we're going to count class victories.

230kph is only 143mph I've been in an EG Civic that was going faster. Personally done over 160mph on a sport bike. Using the KPH speed is only a flex to Americans that can't do the math on the fly. Remember folks 100kph is 62mph which is a huge reason 0-60mph is used as the benchmark and typically the redline in 2nd gear on most performance vehicles.
