For those who want more power from the 86 twins (both gens) I honestly think supercharging is the way to go. Turbos are fun and I prefer them but this car is meant to feel linear, its not as fun to have to buildup boost

Once prices come back to Earth, I will gladly trade up for the 2.4 once Ecutek is available on these things headers and a flex fuel kit will be more than adequate power wise along with the instant transient response that only a naturally aspirated vehicle can provide.

I completely agree with you, I owned a 2015 for 2 years and for the last year it was running 12 Psi daily. While I’m not going to tell you it’s not immensely amazing to drive, adding even a small turbo alters the entire character of the car in terms of power delivery which in turn changes the way you throttle in and out of corners as well as no longer having that feeling of driving a slow car fast if that makes sense. I ended up selling it and bought an 01 2dr 2.5RS with 67k on it and swapped in an EJ25 with plenty of goodies and have had that since. Completely different animal and while it’s been my weird dream car since I was a teenage after seeing a good friend of mine do the same swap only with an EJ20 in 2003, I still miss the BRZ.

For a long time I've always more or less really not liked newer cars because of their excessive "it's supposed to be a commuter and not a fun car" feel and because of the overly excessive technology I'm just so glad that Subaru and Toyota kept the GR86/BRZ super simple and fun relative to other cars currently on the market, and it's honestly the only newer car that I'd love to own later when they'll get older (I got my first car in November, and due to Canadian winters a RWD car isn't a really great idea for our winters)

It's a proper new old school car.. Even the last STI's had an old school feel about them compared to most other modern cars (i.e. very 'analog', they still even had hydraulic steering etc). The BRZ / GR86 Gen 2 keeps that vibe going, and really reminds me of older cars, like my old Silvia (small RWD coupe). Also reminds me of my dad's old NA Hatch Impreza, the engine sounds exactly the same, like a mini tractor. It's basically those two cars combined haha. It definitely has character and is fun to drive.

Maybe y'all where going for looks but I don't see that happening either cause if you think about it everyone is having to cut the rear lip and raise the cars to barely clear them and that's with a stretch. Little to say we have raced dozens of times, on a redlight to redlight I pull a length to 60 he pulls it back to 90 we are side by side at 100 before i slowly pull away. Im not Knocking the BRZ , Im just stating that with a mild turbo kit, suspension, wheels n tires the BRZ is pretty darn fast with 244whp. Mid to high 12s. So i would imagine with the new engine the potential is much much higher. The newer ones are way faster then the older engine on a N/A race. More power + torque means you'll go through tyres and fuel faster, you'll be breaking driveshafts, clutches and diffs, so you'll be stopping more than driving. The whole point of the GR86 is that it is a fun car at an AFFORDABLE price.

Such is the demographic of these cars. Lightweight, great handling and cheap. So they go and ruin the handling, add extra weight and spend the cars worth of money on mods that add nothing other than style points. Each to their own by all means, but to me, the majority of owners of these cars modify them in a way that completely goes against their designed purpose.

We all have our past mods we’d never do again. It’s just a part of growing up. I had a couple stanced cars when I was younger, and it got old quick. It’s much more fun to have a giant killer than a car that destroys itself and drives horribly at any speed. I learned by riding in cars that were modified for performance instead of scene points and realized sticky tires and some actual suspension travel is so much more enjoyable to drive, and doesn’t make the car useless for driving to work.

I really liked the video and it's cool how you involved the owner but I personally couldn't be content with 200hp. I do agree with the point you made that it's the perfect car for a beginner with rwd because it's not enough power to get out of control too easy.

It's officially 220hp but most dyno closer to 250hp with about 215 at the wheels

hard for me to justify spending that much money on 228hp to the crank. bought my fiesta st for $15k and after $5k mods for full bolt ons and a big turbo it is at 350whp and handles like a dream while also weighing less. just cant justify it for a second vehicle
@arcanevoid91992 жыл бұрын
its more like 240hp, your fiesta barely weighs less and its fwd

@@arcanevoid9199 my car is gutted and weighs approximately 235lb less than stock. And already weighed 2690lb stock to begin with.

Isn't 228 horsepower a lot for an N.A four-banger?
@arcanevoid91992 жыл бұрын
yea its pretty good, not like crazy record breaking. its more like 240 though, they are under reported from factory
@ajstevens16522 жыл бұрын
Definitely. But being a boxer definitely helps it make good power.
