Short story - when David was young we were driving back to Virginia from DisneyWorld and he was crashed out sleeping in the back. I looked in the rear view mirror and saw a Ford GT coming up fast - I didn’t wake David up but when he woke up later and I told him about it, he busted my chops the whole way back for not waking him up! He was into cars even way back then!

you should review classic cars more often, I love stuff from the 70s and back, but a lot of people don't get it, they see the underwhelming specs of most classic cars, the lack of easy computer tuning, and the harder to get parts and they just write them off as old junk, or just an interesting relic and don't pursue them any further. I want more people to experience classic cars, getting my partner to "see the light" so to speak has been one of the most fun automotive journeys I've had, watching them discover this thing I'm so passionate about for the first time is so heartwarming to me.

5:14, there are 3 itb filters loose just flopping around while your driving. Could have come loose from vibrations or maybe a negligent mechanic maybe even owner. Although it does make me wonder what other things may be loose and about to fall off . Hopefully not though

@philbert0062 ай бұрын
They aren't loose flopping around. The engine is just that violent and the camera isn't running fast enough to see it moving. But you better believe it is. If anything were loose in there, that thing would have yeeted it right off pretty quickly. I'm pretty sure that shit is all solid mounted, no soft engine mounts, suspension bushings, all that. It's going to vibrate, and it's going to be violent and uncomfortable and rattle your fillings loose. That car is certainly nut and bolt checked regularly, or filters would be the least of the things falling off.

fun fact: the GT40's body was designed by the british, same as the shelby cobra (AC cobra), and for the rims, they're called "knock-offs". lowriders have been using these types of rims for decades edit: it was also built by the british as well and i love it when those ITB caps are just flopping around every time you mash the throttle

To add to david saying driving a classic car is like a dont meet your heros moment. That all can be fixed by getting non numbers matching classic of your choice and going full restomod for the car and you get the best of both worlds. You get the raw and analog driving experience of a classic car but you get something thats enjoyable to drive when setup right. Take a 65 mustang for example and change everything out for a better suspension setup and big brakes but keep the 289 and do a high compression N/A build you would have one of the best driver cars in your town. That's a 500hp 289 Ford and it's imo the best sounding V8 Ford has ever made. Better than the terminator.

I am not a Ford man, I am a GM man. However, there are Fords I respect, and a select few I think would be glorious to own. This car, is absolutely a Ford I would own in a heartbeat. Ford (more to the point, Shelby) did something mind blowing with these cars. The supercharged Ford GT is absolutely glorious, it was the evolution of a masterpiece that they could have, and nearly did, screw up. The fact that Ford kept the middle child simple is exactly why it is still so good. The modern car is cool and all, but the GT40 and the supercharged V8 GT are both peak Ford.
