I have to say, I really appreciate the specificity of your content warnings. When I played the quest, I completely misunderstood the CW for "the trauma of motherhood", thinking it was going to be about emotional trauma from familial relations. (I also got confused and spent half the quest thinking Jade was a sort of mother figure to Sorren, though eventually I worked it out.) By the time I got to the delivery scene and realized what the content warning actually meant, it was too late. Many years ago, I nearly lost a partner to childbirth, and this quest brought all that terror and grief and helplessness back to the surface as it made me roleplay the surviving parent that I once feared I would become. This quest wrecked me emotionally in a way no videogame ever has before. I think that's a testament to the quality of Warframe's masterful storytelling. Jade is my favourite frame for _many_ reasons and will always have a special place in my heart. And I never tire of hearing her story. Thanks for an incredible video!

You're welcome, Mozeytown! And thank you for going through what you went through to be here. I also found the content warning to be too vague. DE's story has always dealt with some pretty dark topics, but usually with more of a fantasy filter than this quest. They arent accustomed to interrupting their own narrative flow. I find that a well done content warning not only helps people avoid, but it can help people that would be hurt by a story prepare themselves to experience it without being hurt as well

@@SocraTetrisyeah the Inaros quest for example went through Baro dealing with the genocide of his people. Which might not be much for white people from the west. But if you're a Palestinian, Armenian, etc then this can be heavy. Or how the Sacrifice dealt with grief, which is something many people across the world deal with

I'm glad this video exists. When I played the quest I was disappointed how contrived events were and how Jade's role is to die tragically basically. It's good to know there's you, willing to dig up another 10 pages of writing hidden in the depth of the game, far removed from the quest itself, that makes the story at least a little bit more clear.

Thank you Mrs SocraTetris! the pregnancy is the most polarizing aspect of jade, to this day it stills feels wrong to have a pregnant warframe in battle, and they refuse to change it, give us a skin of a maiden Jade! they have it because jade wasnt like that in the first peaks at her.
@SocraTetris
@SocraTetris 13 сағат бұрын
Not revealing the story moment even in the preview materials is a wonderfully executed strategy. I do not think it wrong for a pregnant warframe in battle. It demonstrates a reminder of the narrative in game design. Jade chose to fight to protect the tenno that was in her head. I don't think that the relationship between tenno (child) and warframe is any different just because we can visually see it happening on Jade's body.

Jade shadows has to be my favorite quest, ever. Not because it was fun, but because it made me feel the emotions so well. I still start tearing up every single time i hear the soundtrack, how close and personal it feels. Every time i hear the choir part i remember how Jade put her hand on Sorrens cheek as she went away... It just hits me different. Since the time i played the quest(the literal first second it dropped) that scene is in my mind. Also i love how you touched on how they don't teach us of anything they don't want us to know, they limit the amount you can think and put everything in little boxes however they like. So that when someone realizes what they have been thought is wrong or misleading, the other ones can weird them out and silence the truth. That is how the Orokin worked, and its how real life works. I have finished the entire video and i cannot emphasize how much i love the entirety of it. Thank you so much for this masterpiece, Tetris.

This quest awoke something primal in me. I am the father of a one year old, and my wife went through a traumatic birth and severe post-partum depression. Mom and baby are fine, but I was hit very hard emotionally in this quest. When The Corpus invaded, I felt so much anger. My thoughts were something like, "My wife is dead, and you have invaded my home?! YOU WILL NOT HURT MY CHILD! I WILL TEAR YOU APART!" I have never experienced anything like this in a video game before.

Thank you so much for pre-quest talk. Your words about gender, family and the Sentients was really beautiful. I didn't get the Reader's Lament when I read through it. Warframe's poetic writing can be a bit hard to understand for me. Sex and gender is something I think a lot about as a Genderfluid person. And family is something I have been thinking about more and more of lately, as I am connecting now more with my parents as an adult rather than the teenager I used to be. Your words gave me goosebumps. And I also thought it was very interesting what you said about the Sentients. As they are my favorite sci-fi faction, but I often feel like Warframe kinda underexplores them a lot.
@SocraTetris

I would love to know more of your thoughts on what i said As i came at discussing gender and family from a very general, historical perspective. I dont have the personal experience that say a gender fluid person would have. So i don't want to present myself as an authority on how people should think about these things. My main hope for the sentients is that i do believe warframe's story is going to Tau at some point. And i hope we find a Sentient society unburdened by the Orokin's influence

The Book of Enoch is mostly biblically unaccepted not for its inaccuracies but also for the fact that its origins and author are highly questionable. Multiple iterations of it have been discovered, with one apparently being credited to being in the ownership of Pontius Pilate at one time. There is also no evidence that Enoch wrote any of these iterations. There's really no evidence to the identity of any author at all.
@SocraTetris
@SocraTetris 7 сағат бұрын
With such uncertain authorship and inconsistencies, by what metric do you say that it is still "accurate" ? As far as i am aware, canonized text are mainly a matter of agreement by church officials. The Song of Solomon wasnt even written to be a religious poem, and yet it is biblical canon.
@shade5640
@shade5640 6 сағат бұрын
@SocraTetris I left it with the phrasing I did partially to cover any ignorance I hold over details of the book that align with the Bible. I haven't read the Book of Enoch in its entirety, and thus I'm not entirely aware as to whether or not there are details that match the Bible. It's in a similar vein as the Key of Solomon as far as the "apocryphal texts" of Judeo-Chridtian belief. Ambiguous authorial identities as well as details that seem in conflict with Old Testament and/or New Testament texts. Apologies, I just noticed there is more to read of your comment. Canonicity is, to my knowledge, a matter of relevancy as well as consistency with pre-existing biblical texts. And even some of what *is* canon is debated in its historical basis; Samson in the Book of Judges and the entirety of the Book of Job are called into question with some believing them to be parables or even Ancient Hebrew mythology.

I have some rudimentary knowledge of gnosticism. I'll have to add more to my reading list as I discover more of these. You need to calm down and find a polite way of providing this feedback. This entertainment is provided to you for free, without budget or staff. I normalized and reduced the gameplay dBs to -20 while all VO is normalized to -6 dB. The nature of "Level of Perceived Volume" (Lopvs) is just that, a perception dependent on many factors that are difficulty to control. You appear more sensitive to high pitches, which have higher LUPVS even at very low dB. That is not, however, a justification for being rude in my comments section

I believe it is appropriate to discuss topics of gender with our children. Unfortunately, we also live in a time where people are quick to misappropriate the topic. The disclaimer is there to be extremely transparent who the intended audience is and what is and is not being discussed, so that they cannot be conflated by bad faith actors seeking to silence the video for discussing gender and speaking in support of trans rights.
