Hi Josh, do you recall which Transformers commercial you were in?
@uclafalcon10 күн бұрын
@@KJ-tz7vc it may have been an internal one for hasbro - did GI Joe stuff too. I was in a Fisher Price one when I was 5… might post that one in the future.

Great info on SW Toy commercial. Wow Flying coins Collect all 60! Great to interview original child actor. Appreciate the effort JM!

This is so amazingly ridiculous and a wonderful showcase of the power of youtube and the internet. As of my comment 1387 people have watched a video about a 35 year old toy commercial. An interview no less with one of the actors from said commercial recounting that incredibly mundane experience. It is absolutely beautiful and a testament to the emotional impact our ties to the mundane things from our childhoods has. Great job Junkman, this is the kind of anthropological work that we need done.

I remember seeing this commerical after school around 3:30 p.m. I thought there was a blurb at the end about sending 1 proof of purchase to the Kenner Address for a free coin because I raced home ever day and sat waiting for the commercial so I could write the address. It never came back on. We didn't live near a mall and there were NO Toys 'R Us near us so I only saw the POTF in the store a couple of times.

Awesome interview, Junkman! Josh sounds like a cool guy. Did he ever hang out with the other child actors during the Star Wars commercial shoot?
@uclafalcon11 күн бұрын
I met those kids the day of the shoot but didn't know any - they were likely from other child actor agencies. Sometimes you'd see these other kid actors when going out on other interviews, but I don't recall seeing any of them from this commercial.

Off topic, but I like those videos you make about how you didn’t know what was going on in Star Wars and Indiana Jones when you were a kid. I think we can all relate. I remember when Marcus in Indiana Jones said “Wiped clean by the wrath of God”, and I thought he said “Wiped clean by the Rothgah”. I wondered who the Rothgah was. I felt so stupid later.

I remember the comercial. Didn't remember it being a "power of the force" comercial or anything. I just remember the coins and some kid has a star wars figure and he said, "every figure" and the voice saying "Every figure". I remember it being different though. The kids seemed much older to me and the kid said, "All of them?" Then the voice said "All of them". The voice seemed more ominous. I was 6... maybe 7.

AND the Anakin ad aired as well consisting of send in proof of purchase symbols and you would get as someone screams "Lukes Father!" action figure (I did not get a VCR till1986 so missed Star Wars ads)
@pinballshawn9 күн бұрын
I saw that ad as well. I didn't know anything about the mystery of it until right now. It appeared at the end of a regular Star Wars ad and you were to send in proof of purchases to receive it. And I remember the "Luke's father" phrase and I remember thinking "who would want that?". But yes it existed in the way you remember it.
