In elden chore, I encountered Lunala or whatever, i figured the cutscene would tell me something. She just said some cryptic bull and then i killed her

2:58 - The P doesn't actually stand for Pinocchio, it's the symbol used for blood in Korean (where the development studio is based). The character you play as is "Gepeto's puppet" or "Carlo". Though yeah, the characters are based off the Pinocchio book.

It does disappoint me how everybody thinks of Disney's Pinocchio whenever you say the name. The Original story is far darker and really fun to read. It wasn't a story for just kids. It was originally supposed to end with Pinocchio being robbed and hung on a tree, left to slowly suffocate while thinking about his selfish actions.

@@atomosdaemon yea pretty much. But the book did have a good message in it and the new ending Carlo added was pretty great. Compared to Disney's the story doesn't focus on his nose nor Jiminy. In fact the cricket only shows up 3 times in the whole book. Pinocchio killed him with a hammer upon first meeting him.

The "P" in Lies of P actually stands for multiple things. Pinocchio was actually never said in this game in any way. The P could actually be Pistris, or more likely, Philippus Paracelsus.

I managed to platinum this game when i did, it was hard at the end of the NG+ run, and i managed to get two of the endings using the PS4 save function to get two of them, but the game was a blast and i really hope we get DLC for this.

Lies of P has consistently tugged at my attention in the back of my head, making me want to give it a try, after enjoying the various Souls-like titles I've run through over the years, though the lack of hardware strong enough to properly run it has kept me from giving it a chance up until now. I admit, I've always personally loved playing spell casters in the Souls games proper, but I can't deny the appeal of a good big heavy beating stick, to smash enemies into the dirt, so it's rather intriguing to hear just how customizable the weapons in Lies of P are. Knowing it's a bit more on-rails than the usual Souls title also is admittedly a bit appealing for me, as I'm personally prone to getting lost in the cryptic worlds of the mainline titles, where I inevitably have to pull up a guide here and there to make sure I'm not blindly running into a wall, and making no progress for hours on end as a result. All in all, this one certainly looks like a title I'd likely have a good time with, and I'll definitely have to give it a shot at some point. Great review as always, Jirard. Looking forward to the next one my guy.

I played through it and thought it was great except the leveldesign of the last area. The other negative i found was mainly that the levels are not really explorable and very streamlined/tubelike. Still it was great, it also introduces some game mechanics that makes it different enough from the Souls games.

I have been plaything through this game and really enjoy the game despite not being to into the Souls style of games. Spoiler Story Rant for Jirards absolutely silly thought that you need to read items/ watch lore shows to get the plot of lies of P. how do you not understand the story of lies of P after three playthroughs? the game outright tells you whats going on why its happening and i never needed to read the item descriptions to understand it. Ergo the Crystal that brings puppets to life and basically functions as both brain and powersource for these puppets. is actually the spirit of dead humans who have died from the petrification disease. (i Think its also implied to be useable as a Gas or the spirits natural form i guess or maybe the Crystal is just an echo of that person actual soul either way a lot of people dying means more Ergo running around) its why some puppets feel more than others show love and empathy because they have been given human souls. This is not the cause of the puppet frenzy though. the puppet frenzy was unleashed by Gippeto because he needed a vast quantity of Ergo and Arm of the Angel(a relic from a possible real angel that died on earth and its arm has massive amount of Ergo.) in order to do a ritual to revive his son carlose who he lost to the petrification disease a long time ago.(the Puppet you play is a direct copy of Carloses form but its implied that like most puppets you gained a soul of your own through your own choices, and because Gippeto made you free specifically You can defy hime) The Alchemists also want to massive amounts of Ergo to create a new god/ next step in evolution and The Petrification disease sometimes reacts differently with people instead of turning them to stone they evolve into other things. all of this is just told to the player in various cut scenes i dont think you need to watch any videos or read any item descriptions.

@@MrGoldbrick777 Hmm... 1. Hollow Knight. Love that game, one of my favorites. 2. Sea of Stars. A great indi game, short but a good story. Very reminiscent of Chrono Trigger, my favorite game of all time. Grounded. Terrible game to complete, due to mechanics. But super fun to play and was a huge relief when done. I'll have to look at my list, those are off the top of my head.

@@MrGoldbrick777 one achievement required getting gold cards for all critters. There are several that have very limited spawns and one that had a single spawn every 3 in game days. Gold Cards are a 1% drop for those limited spawns. I had to spend many hours just cycling the days to try for that gold card.
