The Completionist My favorite boss in the series is Slave Knight Gael. His design is beautiful, his attacks are brutal and elegant, his music is grand and spectacular, and his story is amazing. He's the last fight of the series and the best. The spectacle of his fight is wonderful with the Dark and the lightning, with each phase getting progressively harder. There is no other boss I would rather have as the final boss of the series. My least favorite boss in the series is the covetus demon. He's boring, dull, his attacks are slow and easy to dodge, and he dies in like 6 hits.

Gael I found extremely satisfying to fight. He's exactly what a final boss should be, on par with the Soul of Cinder and his Gwyn form showing hella nostalgia to the first game's final boss. He's predictable, but you can't assume you'd just flat out be able to dunk him effortlessly. His moves are all over the place but combo together, his health makes him just a tank without a care in the world, and his second phase just makes the lore of the game even more intense. He goes Hollow in the middle of the fight after discovering the Blood of the Dark Soul comes form him and then literally becomes the physical personification of the Dark Soul itself. WE. KILL. THE DARK SOUL. Like fuck! In the lore of the game, that's intense!
@D1ab0lical5 жыл бұрын
@alsimard Honestly the first phase is the only slightly annoying part of Nameless. His second phase is pretty damn easy, his attacks are insanely well telegraphed. They deal a a ton of damage though so it kinda balances out I guess. I think a lot of people have trouble with Nameless because some of his tells aren't entirely obvious but he has a different kind of momentum.

probably mentioned somewhere in the comments. But the mechanic of summoning another player online to serve as a boss fight has been done before in the series. @leglockcontrol3 жыл бұрын
@@redjaygaming9757 After beating Nioh in the hardest difficulties and made some self made challenges, I came back to DS3 since it was the only one I only beat once and left it since I didn't have the time back then, and I can tell you I died waaaay less than I thought, I beat the game 4 times and did everything I wanted to do and the game was in some degree easy for the must part. Now I am trying The convergance mod who looks and feels very polished and I am sastisfied with the QOL made in there. TLDR: After Nioh 1, DS3 was easiest to beat for me.
@redjaygaming97573 жыл бұрын
@@leglockcontrol bro nioh 1 is easy, if you have to set the game to harder difficulty that already means the base game is already to easy for you, thats like me trying to say dark souls is harder cause i beat it ng+7 with the sword hilt. I believe dark souls is harder cause the enemies punish you more and there is a good variety of enemies to keep you on your toes. Nioh is to easy simply cause you can range legit everything to death and the game can't answer for it. Sure you died less in dark souls after beating nioh on the "hardest difficulty" but thats cause you are comparing a base game (dark souls) to a difficulty you set to max and put challenges on yourself (nioh) not really a fair comparison now is it, also like it or not nioh has the dark souls formula so your skills probably translated pretty well when go back to dark souls 3. Now this is all opinion base and you can believe nioh is harder but you have to admit your comparison pretty stupid considering you weren't comparing it to ng+7 for dark souls and you never did any special challenges or rules when playing dark souls. I believe base dark souls 3 compared to base nioh 1 and 2, dark souls 3 is harder. To struggle in nioh makes no sense if you are a seasoned vet of soulsborn games simply cause nioh offers you way to many tools to cheese or make combat easy sure at the start it maybe harder but by the time you are done with the first mission shit gets super easy super fast, dark souls the difficulty slowly rises and almost never falls that goes for all 3 games as well. However i do like the online coop better in nioh cause i prefer quick search options to the soap system also nioh is still really fun like dark souls which I'm sure we both can agree on.

I played 3 first and thought it was pretty damn hard but didn't have much trouble with 1 which I heard was the hardest. The menus are nicer in 3 and the paths are a bit easier to navigate but apparently having no idea where to go and being confused by clunky menus and upgrades makes the game better.

Oh hey, it's me. Mad respect for the "personal completion criteria" part, though there were a few things that went unmentioned in the DS2 video I didn't mean anything bad by what I said, just that compared to other videos in this series it felt less "complete." Heck I'd have settled for a mere mention of the rings, map flames and the DLC rewards over you putting yourself through a no-death and like 10 straight NG+ runs (It ain't fun getting one-shot by most late-game bosses.) That single part of this one shows me that you at least took on board what people said and had the spark one needs to turn criticism into something positive and complimentary to you as a creator. Now with all that said, this one was super well done and continues to be one of my favourite Completionist videos to date. Keep on bearding and don't you dare go hollow!

I had that same feeling of sadness after finally beating Dark Souls 1. It was the only one in the series I hadn't beaten yet thanks to the horrors of Blight Town, and the hype surrounding Ornstein and Smough made me hesitant to push forward. And ya know, they were deserving of that hype. Had to gain a few levels, learn how to parry in the process, find out Ornstein can't be parried, grind a few more levels, and eventually learn how the bosses work meaning I probably didn't need all those extra levels in the first place but screw it I got 'em let's move on. But when I faced up against Gwyn, saw his bedraggled corpse flailing about, noticed how easy he was to parry... I felt hollow. The music was a good fit for the mood I had after mercilessly beating the last boss of the game, last boss of the series to me, to an embarrassing pulp. There was nothing left for me to attain, no new journey, no horizon to chase. I had done it. And there was nothing left. I suppose challenge runs are still available to me, but never again can I step foot in Boletaria, Lordran, Drangleic, Lothric, or Yharnam without a strong sense of familiarity. I will be forever trapped playing the same game over and over again, each time losing some of the magic that enraged and then entranced me. From created something special in the Soulsborne series. Something that others tried to imitate, still others crafted love letters in the form of games, but none have truly captured the magic that Dark Souls wove. In the end, I suppose the Linking of the Flame endings represent how Miyazaki came to feel about the series; the first time, it was a grand flame, with strong hope for a magnificent future. The second linking produced a somewhat smaller flame, but still brilliant and with faith in what was yet to come. The third linking was tiny; I mean look at us, we barely even catch light. The Age of Fire is at an end, and no matter how many more times the Fire is linked, it will never be as brilliant as before. The time has come for a new Age to usher itself in.

Give me a Dark Souls 1 boss arena and I'll match you an elaborate Dark Souls 3 boss arena. Also, you can run past just about every enemy in Dark Souls 1 too. Thats weird, I think its the first time I hear that DS3 was considered easier than the other games? Personally I thought it was about on par with the others, and the hardest it gets is definitely harder than any of the previous games, except maybe Bloodborne. The combat feels more aggressive overall, and the bosses get really wild and hectic. Also, the tutorial's boss, Iudex Gundyr, was probably the hardest first boss of the series, I felt that was a really bold move to put a legit fight like that right at the start of the game! I mean, bloodborne had something similar going on with Father Gascoigne, but you had a lot more room to explore and practice, and even level up before fighting him. I think its less that the game itself is easier, and more that fans of the series have grown accustomed enough to the games that new games can never be quite as difficult as the first few ones were.

@iota-096 жыл бұрын
I dunno... I feel like bloodborne aside, ds3 is the easiest one, with ds2 being the least fair(but also the easiest to cheese thanks to life gems) but for me personally? Ds1 is the hardest, not because it's the First i played, in fact, aside from ds2 it was the last(i started with bb and then gone to ds3), it's just so clunky and the later bosses put you really on the line, and you don't do enough dps, they're gonna feel like tanks(artorias was my wall, quit the game there after 5 deaths, it was(the gameplay) too clunky for me, too much of a war of attrition (artorias) and the run to the fog gate took imho too long(sanctuary to elevator to arena) It was starting to get frustratingly boring, whereas in ds3 that happened to me only against midir, and for Bloodborne, only with the cursed dungeon bosses(as well as ludwig, Lawrence and the well sharks) But unlike ds1, i only quit against the dungeons. And yes, if you're wondering: i died as much in ds3 and bloodborne as ds1, even though i had WAY more experience (almost 1k hours) under my belt with the souls series when i tackles onto ds1.

Dark Souls 3 was a great place to start for new comers. This was my first game in the action RNG genre I played completely. I started very badly where I needed help from my brother to beat all bosses in my first playthrough. After multiple playthroughs, I became better at it and I managed to beat all in-game bosses at level 1 in NG+7, plus Sister Friede, Midir, and Demon Prince in the DLCs. The game has so much replay value that it provides room to learn new tricks to fight bosses, new ways to traverse the environment, and to explore weapon builds and fashion souls. Overall, this game is one of my favorites since it is challenging, fair, and it has a deep lore in the story despite that I have to work hard to understand it. I enjoy the challenge in Dark Souls although this one is much tougher than DS3. In the future, I may plan to play DS2 to complete the Dark Souls trilogy experience.

Demon's soul still have the best boss in my opinions, they were all unique in some way!

True, the bosses were really unique, but a lot of the clunky and sort of frustrating mechanics served as a huge barrier to those experiences, plus demon's souls had its fair share of bad bosses as well, even if they were still unique. I feel like he kind of mistimed it, as most runs, especially normal speed runs are 2 hours, but for being a completionist should take 4- 6 times longer because of back tracking to certain areas you need to pick up certain things.
@MrGhosta56 жыл бұрын
newgame+ can actually be done really quickly as you already have all your gear from newgame and have already learned how to kill all the bosses. Plus you don't need to bother with optional stuff like helping Siris or Greirat.

Imo Dark Souls 3 is the easier game when it comes to overall difficulty (especially in just traversing the environment), but I also think it has some of the hardest bosses out of any souls game, on par with Bloodborne etc.
@glctcthnkr80594 жыл бұрын
Honestly I really like that. I appreciate more difficult areas and I really love the Metroidvania style world design from ds1 but it was really disappointing to go through a really difficult and fun area only to find a really lame and/or easy boss at the end of it every time (the four kings and O&S are the only exceptions)

@some loser on the internet I can guess that if you're "halfway" through you haven't touched the chalice dungeons or at least not the higher tier ones. Good luck with those wholeheartedly lol. Some people gave up on platinum because of them.

Thank you sooooo much for appreciating the Deacons of the Deep! They are such an underrated boss. It's also one of my favorites. And also thank you for seeing how amazing and important the Lothric and Lorian boss fight is. They are brothers and they are together till the very end. If that isn't beautiful then I don't know what is. Amazing video. Thanks once again!

It's not underrated when you can literally run in and mass cleave your way to victory.

The fact he likes deacons and not midir or nameless king is very odd and nonsensical lol
@EntombedHusk6 жыл бұрын
Midir is just a huge sponge with some okay moves. That boss has way too much HP. It's just boring to fight him. Nameless King is pretty cool but the first phase is once again boring to do every single time you retry, because it's not a very good fight (the first phase).

Correction: Halflight, Spear of the Church is not the only boss in the series that summons other players. Dark Souls 2 had the Looking Glass Knight that did the same. Only problem is, there was no real incentive to let yourself summon ala the covenant Spears of the Church. Thus, it ended up being NPCs being summoned a lot of the time. Also, if you include Demon's Souls as part of the series, which it is in a meta Soulsborne level, the Old Monk from Stage 3-3 did the same, and was decently active back in the day. So while the idea is cool, and well executed here, it is not their first time doing this.

"No other fight quite like it in the series" Um demon souls did it first with the mad monk boss fight. Even in dark souls 2 the mirror knight boss could summon actual players from his shield if you were online.

My favorite Dark Souls game is the first Dark Souls as it felt more fluent than Dark Souls II: Scholars Of The First Sin. Although it took me 60 hours to beat Dark Souls 1 compared to the 50 hours beating Dark Souls II: Scholars Of The First Sin, it still just felt like a more complete experience. I have not played Dark Souls III, but I have played the remaster of Demon Souls and that's pretty fun too. Even though I ain't a big fan of games that go past 30 hours for the main story, the Dark Souls games have been the only exception to the rule.

So... The bosses he thought were "most bullshit" are actually the bosses that the Souls community actually enjoyed the most (or among the most enjoyed)... That's.. Very strange. I can't understand why he would hate NK, Midir and Friede, since they not only have the best story behind them, but they were actually challenging bosses to fight, excellent music, multi staged, and fast paced. Just because they're a bit more difficult than the average Souls boss (for example, Abyss Watchers) doesn't constitute them being bullshit.

71 deaths? 66 hours? that's got to be bull. I'd believe that if you went through NG and NG+, but not all the way to NG++ with all the farming, and covenant stuff. Farming all that stuff would take up a third of that time.
