Saw this last night thought the first 70 minutes were a solid 6/10 then the last 15 minutes + the credit sequence were 10/10. When a movie ends that well it just leaves you pumped and ready to do it all over again. So happy Sylvester Stallone got his chance to say goodbye to Rambo and hope it does good money at the box office because we need more hard R rated action movie at the cinema.

I don't know is it just me or not? cause i think that sylvester stallone acting was really good in this one.. Because i felt his pain again, since the first blood this feeling to me step by step tuned down, but in last blood in some scenes oh boy i felt it once again i was pleased by that, and the third acting... Just go watch it!! If you're a fan of the franchise like me your brain will explode!! Thanks for the amazing video guys!

I have been following you guys for a long time now. There are lot of movies you guys have been pumped about, some worked on the screen, some didn't, but in the end i love how honest you guys are with the genres and franchises. I wouldn't say you guys are movie critiques, because frankly I don't care about the movie critiques these days anymore because most of them are highly rooted onto their political/social stand, but you guys are authentic movie lovers. While Lady Phat Blood goes into the stories and the characters, Phat Samurai Guy keeps it in business with the actions. Beautiful blend, one of the best movie critique channels I have come across.

This flick is a straight example of the Action Hero. Silver age of Hollywood. John Wick would not exist if not for John Rambo. Rare gem, when we need it the most. 6 out of 5 stars .

Great review guys! I am a guy that was lucky enough to be around during the heyday of these types of films...I graduated high school in 1985 and have watched every single Rambo film in the theater and absolutely love this series. All that being said I absolutely loved this movie! As you said...it scratched the itch that so few films do these days.

Great review guys. But just a correction, Brian Tyler did the score for this film and not Tyler Bates. Also the girl was not Rambo’s niece at all. There was no mention of that. She’s a Mexican lady as mentioned at the beginning of the film Rambo helped her stay at his place. And Gabriel the girl is her granddaughter.

I would say you guys and Sean Chandler gave the most fair review of this film that I've seen so far. People who are both fans of the series ,and still manage to be objective without giving into bias. I was afraid of a couple of things with this Rambo film. One, it would be tame like Expendables 3. Two, it would be loaded with CGI squibs/gore like a majority of the Expendables films. I do like the first two Expendables films, but Expendables 3 was the last proper Stallone action vehicle released in theaters. The tame action of EX 3 left plenty of doubt in my mind until Last Blood's trailer hit. Then I saw it was rated 18 like Rambo IV, which is generally reserved for ultraviolent films. Now, this review comes out talking about the epic finale. I can't wait to see it today. I agree with Lady in that film violence is part of the art form of action cinema. It is a ballet of physical choreography, squibs, and controlled mayhem. There's a difference from the thrill you get watching well executed action cinema, and the empathy for those who suffer from violence in the real world. Enjoying an ultraviolent action film that handles its action sequences with a certain panache doesn't translate to you being a "bad person", because you can distinguish the fact that it's all fake. Bottom line: It's OK for a film to go balls out with its gore, and it's OK for you to appreciate it.

But I believe this is the first movie since the first where Rambo hasn't been in a recognized warzone. Instead he brings the war to the enemy, and this time it's personal. I need to see it again!

Listening to your guys review always makes seeing the movie better. I have seen the trailer and I do appreciate that they went back to John rambos survival tactics as we saw in the first film first blood. Also, from what I gather, this film looks and feels like it's the Logan of its series. A broken soldier trying to build his life back together and having to face the darkness of his inner denons one last time. I cannot wait to see this film soon. she is not his niece , when he came home ten years ago he found them living there as servants of his father , after his father died he allowed them to stay and keep doing their work then he helped raising Gabrielle with her grand mother after her mother died and her father left so she became more like his daughter but no one has a real blood family connection what so ever to john , Stallone explained the story and his relation to those characters in some of the interviews for the movie . in one of the scenes the grandmother thanked john for letting them staying in the farm all this years.

What I loved about this film was the fact that the Vietnam war was still with him especially the short part where he was in the tunnel and had a flashback of the war voices in his head in the beginning of the film seems like it was like old school vs new school kinda film brought me back to thinking about the punisher from the punisher max comics where he was also from the Vietnam war I’m definitely gonna see this movie again I’d say bring on another Rambo

Id have to say i agree i still feel John Rambo 4 is superior to Last Blood, in all honesty i just feel this is a movie that never needed to be made. Rambo 4 ended perfectly. Whats spoiling it for this movie is the SJWs agressively attacking it and getting all political, its got a weak plot, quite shallow and poorly written characters admitted, but it is escapism at end of the day.

First Blood....is absolute classic,..you can feel his desperation and loneliness of the war damaged Vietnam vet and his struggles to integrate back in to civilian life.......arguably stallones finest film,........the rest of the franchise are great entertainment,...and judge them for what they are,....violent comic book style over the top carnage ,full of explosions and brutal killigs..... brilliant action movies, but without the realism and gritty drama of the original.....

I grew up watching Rambo and other macho flicks like Bronson, Russell, Weathers, Willis, Schwarzenegger, Norris, so i enjoyed this film a lot especially no CGI involved, just cool action sequences and gore. I laughed with Mrs. Phatblood. First shot of the movie with the roaming over the knifes and guns, I noticed the poor camera quality. The guns were blurry and the green screen made me chuckle lol

I overlooked all the negatives, and while I wasn't expecting academy award-winning acting. I expected Sly to keep in some variant of "It's a long road." Also: During the struggle of the fight, I noticed that Rambo didn't go down without taking one with him. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to do much after that. He decked the one guy, and that was it. x__x; I knew it was a losing situation for him, but I was still hoping he'd come out of it.

I agree with the comparison between John Rambo vs John McClane at around 32:00. I think that the reason why McClane does not feel like McClane anymore is because each Die Hard movie had different writers (the first 2 had Steven E. De Souza, which did felt like the same McClane... since With A Vengeance (which I love) they've had different writers, they did do a good job writing McClane on that one but you can slighly tell it's not the same writer, but the last 2 are generic McClane's... couple of soft DHINO... unlike Rambo which Stallone has at least co-written every single installment.

Finally saw it... disagree about some technical aspects: the cinematography was fine, with nice compositions and lighting (except the piss colored lights in Mexico, and yeah, the green screen stuff,which looked terrible). But it didn't have a direct to video look. Also, the gore was almost exclusively CG, I didn't see much practical there.

I watched Rambo 5 and I would give it 5 stars out of 5 for what it is. If there is a Rambo 6 Slyvester needs to incorporate more of the formula he used in 1,2, 3 and 4.

I'm looking forward to the film, 90-odd minutes sounds just fine considering I watched It: Chapter 2 last night and suffered in those cinema seats after 90 minutes knowing there was another 90 to go! When I read that the baddies were a Mexican drug cartel, my eyes did roll, like "really?" But, we'll see. I'm glad that it's an 18 (UK rating) and they're not holding back on the violence.

It's from a book and in the book they actually kill off John Rambo because he had turned into a killing machine there was no humanity left in him he was a feral dog that needed to be put down , but the studio wouldn't let Stallone kill off Rambo.

Let's be real Stallone couldn't or wouldn't be able to make rambo 4 or 5 in the late 90s. It took him to be out of cinemas for 10 years for people to appreciate his characters on screen.
