I've been to the Philippines numerous times and in fact m wife is Filipina but it still amazes me that so many children speak pretty darn good English. Philippines is a unique place, that's for sure. Back to the subject at hand, the USA is out of control expensive and a lot more people are going to be looking for alternatives so they can have a descent life without spending and arm and a leg.

My cousin Joe, a retired US Navy, perhaps was receiving a combined monthly pension with the pension of her wife (in Pesos) about P450,000. He live like someone who step down from Presidential position in Ph coz he already built a mansion in Bogo City. How much comfort should we have to aspire in life except helping others. So he maintain every year or semester to enroll some youths free of tuition fees. He became a very important person in the community. Americans call this Community Relationship. Corporate practice this i think to the community they belong. Is thstcsome kind of Profit Sharing that Americans invented also and become popular practice about 30 years ago?It stop, hahaha.

20:57 “Di ko maintinde e” means “I cannot understand”. They couldn’t really understand when you asked what they were selling, so they looked at each other if they have an idea what you’re saying. Sometimes when we speak English a little bit too fast, they cannot understand what we say. It’s fine for native English speakers, but it’s an issue even for the ones who speaks English as a second language and also lives in the US. A tip is to slow it down a bit and have some pauses between the words.

Why speaking Tagalog, I thought they were in a Hiligaynon speaking area?
@HDApex

@@damianloder6080They are speaking Hiligaynon/Ilonggo. There are some similarities to Tagalog and other Filipino languages, but once you get to the nitty gritty you’ll see the difference. For example, saying good morning: Hiligaynon - Maayong aga, Akeanon - Mayad-ayad nga agahon, Tagalog - Magandang Umaga. Notice how each sounds similar but are also different

Also, some of the people will sort of mix Tagalog words and English. Examples: I don’t understand - Hindi ko ma-intindihan, Hindi ko ma-intende, Indi ko ma gets.

Iff you want to visit USA Veteran houses, there are tons of them in Miagao.The reason Miagao has a lot of local Miagaowanons that are retired from the us Military. Other than that, Seafarers and other professionals maintain a house in Miagao and in foreign countries. A friend of mine has 2 USAF, 2 US Navy, 1 doctor and 2 nurses in the family who built a house in Nico Street, Almost all in the neighborhood are retired US Serviceman. Some houses are along the highway as you go South from Iloilo City.

Guimaras has the best sweetest mangoes in the Philippines. Why is Guimaras called the mango capital of the Philippines? The island province is famous for producing one of the sweetest mangoes in the world, thus earning the nickname "Mango Capital of the Philippines" from local and foreign tourists. Guimaras mangoes are reportedly served at the White House and Buckingham Palace.

For comparison, our villa here in Dubai costs about $3500 a month BEFORE electric, water, drinking water, maid service, and internet... There's no doubt life can be cheaper and the weather minus snow and cold is better there, even with the storms... Good interview and tour, love that bike...Dave is living the life... There's something called AC.
@kenrice
@kenrice 7 ай бұрын
@@GUITARTIME2024 You are absolutely right. I should have better articulated my post. What happens when there is a 12-hour brownout and there is no power? I saw only one air conditioner in the downstairs living area. A 2.5-HP split-inverter air conditioner to cool over 200 square meters of area is going to overburden the AC. Furthermore, anyone who has lived in the Philippines understands that electricity is very expensive when compared to other Asian countries or the United States. The amount he is paying in rent is a very good deal, and the money he is saving can offset his high electrical bill. To give you an idea of how much it costs to use air conditioning in the Philippines, for a 100-square-meter space, I am paying an average of 12,000 pesos per month. The house in the video has more than double the living space of my condo.

Value is 'perceived'. -- People 'perceive' differently. -- Owners 'perceive' differently as well. Some might see the value here in a deal like this and others perhaps not ? --- A 72 year old wise US expat in Angeles City 'negotiated' a deal with an owner who wanted 4K pesos for an apartment that needed work. > He cleaned painted new tile floor new kitchen new ac new windows and agreed to pay 5K pesos for life -&- allowed the owner to keep everything upon his death. TV fridge ac furniture mw oven - everything. So his rent is froze @ 5K/mo. for the rest of his life. --- Deals '''can''' be negotiate with owners !
@tryscience
@tryscience 7 ай бұрын
That's an excellent arrangement. The owner never has to worry about new tenants, so long as the current owner lives. The tenant gets to create a lavish comfortable home, without having to worry about moving. And the owner gets all of those goodies when the tenant passes on. As an added bonus, they get to know each other over time and perhaps build a good friendship also.

Me too. Always enjoy the views of church or shrine or other religious architecture/art. Michael’s vlogging style is my fave style; lotsa narrating, lotsa details, but knows how to let the views speak for themselves, too. I also like how in crowds or groups he often finds one or two people to highlight, to focus the camera on for a beat or more, & they are always interesting to look at (no, not always a pretty woman!) Warmed my heart how he spoke about the mural/carvings & smoothly identified “Santo Nino”without missing a beat. I recall how the painted sail of the Holy Infant Jesus was his fave decorated sail in the Ilo Ilo city boat race event. He’s not particularly religious, I know, but I appreciate his attention to these subjects. 👦🏻👑♥️ Ty to the gentleman & his wife opening their home & providing a detailed description of how they have made it “theirs”.
