Here in Thailand the price of meat, specifically pork, has gone threw the roof, along with the petrol prices! The great thing about 'developing' countries is the multi-level availability of food stuffs from the grass-root seller/vendor to the full-scale commercial supermarket. Nobody goes hungry.

Life in the philippines is great! some of my old friends from korea who were about to retire selected my Philippines because of our good culture here. They like the climate and not so expensive foods unlike in their homeland which is expensive. I knew that their retirement benefits is hefty sum and they want to settle down here in the philippines. When I lived in the Philippines, almost all American foods there in Manila at grocery stores were very expensive. Even the beer like Budweiser and the liquor Jack Daniels was sky rocket in price. So I just shopped for what they had for cheap, or I just ate what they had at the karenderia or BBQ out on the street! So much cheaper!

Yes sir and mam for the westerners like you the cost of living here in the Philippines is not that much because maybe you earn a lot but for the locals like us the prices of goods and services are too much since we just earn a little. Imagine the prices compared to the salary. Most of the workers just got a standard wage of 500-600 hundred pesos a day in the National Capital Region while in the provinces mostly got 300-400 pesos rate per day. How much more for those who doesn't have a stable income? Also dollar is much higher than our peso. Only high earning people, big business men and foreigners are enjoying simply because they can afford a lot, for them it's too much heaven to s stay here.

Staying at a premiere tourist destination spot as Boracay will really be expensive but most foreign couple vloggers like you may opt to buy or rent a condo in Cebu or Manila. The rent of Php 20,000 is equivalent to a monthly payment for a condo that you may own and it is in the heart of the city so that everything is at arms reach. Do considers this and thank you for loving our country specially our people, stay healthy & safe and God bless!

@@BiancaBeyond I live in Mindanao, and they actually grow coffee here. It's still hard to find beans or ground coffee when I go shopping. Have to say that I bought some of that Nescafe black roast instant a couple of weeks ago, and wasn't impressed. Unless I can find local ground coffee, I'll stick with 200g of Nescafe Gold. It's expensive, at 583 pesos in my local supermarket. But at least it's drinkable (I take my coffee black, with no sugar, so the ready mixed sachets are a big no no).

Regarding to the spaghetti sauce, most of the spaghetti sauce in the market are already seasoned... If you want non sweet sauce, choose the italian style one as the Filipino style is a sweet blend style sauce.. And also beef is not as popular as pork here as Philippines is not suitable for large scale raising of cows and also they're more pricey than pork.. If you want cheaper fresh produce, we get those on local public markets especially the wet market for fresh fish and meats

@@BiancaBeyond On a side note, the Filipino propensity for sweetness might be from a mix of historical and geographical reasons. Historically, sugarcane might have originated here and in Papua thousands of years ago and spread throughout the rest of the world. Geographically near the equator, the Philippines uses sugar, salt and vinegar (all three combinations can be found in Filipino dishes), as well as ginger, and garlic -- to prevent food from spoiling in the hot climate before refrigeration was available.
