I held onto my DOC welders job at rikers island for 30 years. They closed my facility which was the best run on the island. As soon as I heard the news I retired and never looked back. Today it’s like the ok corral with staff assaults drug overdoses and rampant absenteeism

Hector one OG told me to shut up and learn but never let your voice be silent. I told him my dad volunteered for Vietnam and he raised 4 boys free thinkers. I told 3 AW’s that one AW was a liar and she was lying to everybody here they all tried to shut me up even my partners. I then told those fucks that there’s one difference between you and me. You get to retire if you are blatantly lying and I pointed my finger at her and said it again you are lying and me I get fired for lying and trust me I don’t lie!! I was injured for doing my job. After that I got active in the union. As a supervisory rep I then called the Warden a gang leader in front of all the AW’s and the Chief. The AW’s I was raised with from my original prison called me to his office later and he told me he had to hold the laughter inside when I put him on blast. I always voiced my concerns and opinion and emailed for proof. I had 16 and a half years in until my brain tumor retired me. But I tell everyone thinking or in CDCr little r because it don’t mean nothing with the bullshit programs they are implementing it’s not worth it. Inmate are inmate, inmates are doing what inmates have to do I can deal with that aspect but it’s when managers down that don’t know WTF they are doing just winging it and the ones that do know their jobs don’t speak up and say you’re wrong and this is why?????? They just let people get hurt and fired. I tell officers and supervisors know your job and know policy that will save your career and never accept anything less. Even being retired I still get cops and supervisors texting and calling me. That is what made my job worth it as a Sgt protecting my good cops and protecting my Lt’s the captains have to deal with my bullshit but if I liked them I would inform them of what I was about to do so they could expect a call from the warden.
