2000HP Toyota Supra Breaks RWD Stick Shift Record - "The Road to 6 Seconds"

On this episode we feature Joel Grannas from Grannas Racing and his absolutely ridiculous Toyota Supra. In 2019 he set the record for quickest and fastest h-pattern stick shift toyota supra in the world. Now he just broke the record for any RWD stick shift car period... and he's not done yet. The next goal will be to set the overall fastest manual car on the planet when dipping into the 6 second 1/4 mile club.

The implementation of these long style pressure plate adjustable clutches and faceplated trans are really starting to cut ETs down for these manual cars. What a year for stickshift racing. Edit** Can someone correct me if I’m wrong but do these Black Magic clutches originate from Pro Stock drag racing??

I just don’t consider these new clutch setups and other advanced technology a “true” manual transmission. Call me old school but the way the stuff works is VERY close to turning them into “automatic” transmission behavior. The new “slip” clutch designs make the clutch work just like a torque converter by letting the power transfer from the engine to the transmission extremely smooth and helping the car keep HUGE amounts of traction!

Its hard to build a tough manual with a lot of gears, cause you don't have a lot of room for gear material. the T56 magnum has a big case and barely fits in the transmission tunnel.

It's not a normal clutch. The faster you go, the less it will slip. He talks about fine tuning the weights in the clutch in the video. It's made by Black Magic. Their logo is on the rear bumper.
