Nice video Matt. Well done on the bass, and the leads.👌👍👏 I love fishing in the rain too. I go fishing for the whole experience. The friendship, patter, meeting new people, or the solitude and being alone if I choose, fresh air, scenery, get away from the stress of life, learning from others, helping others, the hunt, just the whole package. That's a load of bullsh=+. I go because my wife kicks me out and I have nowhere else to go. 😢😢 Stay safe. 😷

I was introduced to fishing by one of my brothers when I was 5. 60 years I'm still enjoying it. Out in nature, the mixture of solitude and company. I bought a boat in August last last year, through rubbish weather, family things and the lockdown I've not been out much. This year will be better. Great video, you have a nice way about you. Tight lines.

lol i got that rod and absolutely love it. Caught well over 200 bass with it and countless pollack / other big fish. Used to look after the tackle shop at the end of the pier in Eastbourne so fished a lot and knew exactly the time and place to catch bass (30 within an hour easy) ;)

@@wt6519 a couple of places. One is at the end of the pier. go down the deck to the lower fishing deck. face towards the beach parallel with the pier looking down towards the night club if it still exists. fish 1 hour before high tide and all the way down to low. when its high going to low try to cast to the club as the pier goes inwards. you need to use either sandeel or sidewinder skerries eel. main line on 1oz or 2oz weight to arms length line to the eel. let it hit the ground but wind in quick as the tide will take it under the pier into snags make sure its parallel with the pier off about 2-4 meters away as you wind in it drags it more into the pier where the fish are hiding...if any bass about 100% they will take it. Best time of year is September time with high tide early morning close to sunrise best if you can. If pier is not possible you can do the same on the beach to the left of the pier. not on the first but second beach down. best used is lug or sandeel. Bass if you look during the day hang out close to the pier and are down deep near where the night club entrance is...on clear water with polarized lenses on you can see loads of them hanging about going in and out. For pollack its straight down at the bottom pier deck facing the pier but further down (half way upto the end) on very high tides during summer. Use sibiki feathers down to bottom and wind up two times off the floor to not get snagged...bob up and down and should catch 1/2lb to 1lb pollack and near dusk herring. For black bream its top deck on small hooks, can be a two hook flapper rig, cast parallel to the beach towards beachy head. Must be after may/jun for best result with slither of quid . By catch is flatties. Scad if you can is at night dangling down using feathers bottom beck in the lights where you catch pollack but at night. gar fish using float near the pier bottom deck on high tide or can be done with skerrie sidewinder eel but at night is best result but must be flat. for (2lb+) mullet use bread on tiny hooks (6 on a line) down the side as close to the pier as possible. My best place was top deck to the left next to the stairs facing pier (yeah not much space but that is where they hang out). Its a long game but pays off with a large fish. Must be calm water best in morning from first light. They like glass calm water for best result.

Why do I fish? For the pursuit of those beautiful big fish that punctuate the many smaller ones. The relaxation, excitement and the head-space that's hard to achieve through other means, is also on a level footing. I'm on the East coast, but the West coast of Ireland is my fishing paradise. The white noise of the ocean at night, lulls me to sleep during every fishing/camping trip. Irreplaceable.

Around the same time of your video a mate and I went to Cefen Siden beach in South Wales. A local surf beach just after a bit of a blow. Lots of cockles some quite big, a few queen cockles, Razor and Gaper shells everywhere but sadly, could not find whole ones. Lots and lots of pink sea slugs. Caught three bass between us around 2-3lbs with fresh local dug blow lug. Used the queens we found only had one bass hit with them. Some good size flounder in between the bass on the worm. A good couple of days fishing Looking forward to the next blow we have. Good video.

Matt I set my ting tax at 10p/fish about 4yrs ago, coz they were abundant. Why do I fish ....I can be me & step of the planet. I also like a bit of wormage. Today, 2nd session after schools went back, broke my blank run. 17cm slug & started to climb the species ladder. 🤣🤣
@SaltwaterAngler3 жыл бұрын
Ha yes ! The original tingtaxinater ! Thanks I understand that stepping off the planet , remember I filmed you catching a flatly once and remember thinking you were so IN THE ZONE ! It’s the place to be with hopefully a few less slugs - tight lines and see you soon

Always interesting to watch, thanks for sharing. How far out was the bass? Why do I fish? Escapism and the challenge to catch supper though I only take the occasional fish. It always suprises me how absorbing fishing is and how quick the time goes. Wish I could do it every day. Tight lines.
@SaltwaterAngler3 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, bass was at distance maybe 60/70 m . I share your surprise at where the time goes when fishing- your right it’s when we concentrate and are in the moment time flys !

@@SaltwaterAngler I was about to say that Matt and then I spotted Marky's post. I just checked and they have been illegal to use since 2015. Shame - I'd sooner forage for a bit of natural bait than have to fork out £20 for a handful of worm from a disatant tackle shop! www.gov.uk/government/news/slipper-limpets-not-permitted-to-be-used-as-bait-or-disposed-at-sea

Hi Dean, thanks for stopping by at the secret spot 😉 I think it’s a bit hit and miss at the moment. It’s actually fishing well half a mile to our west on mid flood in clear conditions. I’m hearing reports that a lot of plaice were caught there and weekend might be good

@SaltwaterAngler3 жыл бұрын
Yes that’s always a worry- a bass or a cod could always have more though- in theory it’s the same as bait fish around in lure fishing. I find that if the bait fish are small I struggle but big I do better ?
