Wow Lee - this vid was awesome. I like the format of talking while riding. Gives me some perspective of your riding area and style. Thank you for taking the time to explain the intricacies of the build, and the resulting pros and cons. It's very helpful. Keep up the good work!

Great videos! I made few modifications in my P200E (DS 1979 Spanish Motovespa version, some say that its the most powerful with a big flywheel) with the idea to update lighting (just a 35W candle with total 55W output). I'm wondering to change the Femsa ignition but I have to change crankshaft and machine somewhat the engine case in the flywheel side... a lot of money. Don't know if it worth it. Thank you for your comments!

What Smartcarb Metering Rod did you use in the end Ef-26, Ef-27 or Ef28???

Nice result. I think a 60mm stroke stock cylinder is what I'm leaning towards for my Rally. Any reason stock carb and autolube wouldn't work for this application?
@ThatScooterThing
@ThatScooterThing 3 жыл бұрын
It would, absolutely. The SC2 is the cherry on top to unlock the full potential, but the 208 mod has been done for a long time on Si carbs.

any comments on the SC2 clearance? does carb hit the frame, especially with passenger or bumpy roads?

It does not, size of the PHBH and PWK. I do recommend a 90deg cable guide though

@@ThatScooterThing yes! Yo question. What’s your thoughts on the p200 stock vs that orange Stella you have for sale? What’s the difference between the two?
@ThatScooterThing

@@chaznasty814 the 177 is geared shorter. It doesn't have that low end grunt this motor has. But it is fun in its own way.

As I am working on a similar set-up (but with a 57mil crank), would you mind sharing which metering rod you use in the smartcarb? Is it the E-Q26?
@ThatScooterThing
@ThatScooterThing 3 жыл бұрын
Would love to help! It is indeed the 26. Are you stateside?
@flavour123
@flavour123 3 жыл бұрын
@@ThatScooterThing No, I live in Germany. The smartcarb is even more expensive over here, but the 26 is the standard rod we can buy it with at SIP. So that is good news :-) Would love to see a video on how to adjust the carb.

@@ThatScooterThing One more thing, Do you remember the timings you ended up with? I found several sources (e.g. there is an article in the Scootering Magazine) that elaborate on porting the original cylinder. Apparently, if you use a base gasket of somewhere between 1.2 -1.7mm, you should end up with a transfer timing of roughly 120-124 with a 57mm crankshaft. Raising the exhaust port by 1mm should give you approx. 170-171 for the exhaust port time, but it seems you can go up to 175 without trading high end power for a significant loss in low end power. I have almost finished working on the cyclinder ports, but haven't mounted it yet. Hope tog get it done over the weekend.

@bstiphout1
@bstiphout1 3 жыл бұрын
You will notice you need CR80 clutch plates. Don't get to roudy on the clutch springs or you will destroy bearings. I can recommend an aluminum cilinder kit and for the rest you can mount about everything. Just get the base right the first time and get proper casings.
