Lifelong Browns fan here and LOVED Baker on the team and defended him as QB longer than my friends but I had to finally admit they and the front office were right and Baker had to go. Best way I can explain it is that Baker wasn’t one of the boys with the other players. NONE of them defended his departure. It seems Baker couldn’t get over the excessive chip on his shoulder which limited his play on the field and rather than bonding with his teammates he was busy making commercials in isolation. I hope Baker has learned how to be a better leader and that with this new maturity and leadership he has massive success with the Bucs. But the Browns were in the right and not the villian in this story

Imma disagree with the "most hated team with Brady" because I'm not a Bucs fan by any means, but I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people had come around to Brady by that time and were secretly excited to see the GOAT do what he does. It was very cool (as an NFL fan) to see Brady make a run and win the Superbowl with another team, completely solidifying his GOAT status. Brady was hated, yes. However, he gained everyone's respect towards the end of his career because there was no questions anymore. Brady is and probably will always be THE GOAT.

Both had stability in the first 4 or 5 years of their careers. Both still have the Same Head Coach, and both had the same Offensive Coordinator for the first 4/5 years of their player careers. By the time Lamar and Allen were onto their 2nd OCs, Baker was onto his 7th. Baker has also had 7 different Head Coaches and 2 Interims at Cleveland and Carolina. Buffalo had found its feet a couple seasons before Allen was Drafted, and Baltimore which has been on of the most consistently good teams in the league for over 2 decades. Baker has had to play for Cleveland, Carolina, a short stint in LA, and now Tampa. Name me one player that could suffer through all this stuff and come out the other end not only still a stable no. 1 QB for a team but also manage to have a couple playoff wins under his belt and a new contract under his name, and that players name will be Baker freaking Mayfield. Lamar would probably still be in the league but would not be reaching the statistical heights he has, at best he'd be RGIII 2.0. Allen would be out of the league by now because he wouldn't have had both a HC and OC that would've given him time to develop and kick his nasty Interception kick, or Allen would at best be another Sam Darnold but more athletic and a perennial backup.

Browns really set themselves back a decade or more from truly being a Superbowl contender.😢 They should've just built the team more around Baker thru the draft
@cemarz7 ай бұрын
He was the scapegoat. It's ironic now. They got rid of him instead of addressing the real concerns (ST, DC, not running enough). And now they've addressed those concerned, field a very solid team but lack the QB.

Baker would never have long term success in Cleveland. Most of the Browns front office employees are more loyal to the Buckeyes than the Browns. The flag planting and the Buckeyes losing at home to an immature QB have those loyal Buckeye fans with a huge grudge. Mayfield said the front office with the Bucs has a better atmosphere than the Browns. He feels more comfortable there.

That TD throw to Jarvis Landry in double coverage is still the most impressive touchdown from Baker.

When he was QB of the Rams against the Raiders on Thursday Night Football and led them on that game winning drive. Being on the team 6 DAY'S! I felt he could be a serviceable QB for a NFL team.

Baker was robbed comeback player of the year. The only thing Flacco did was throw short passes to tight end for 5 games.

Joe Flacco's completed air yards per completion was nearly 2 yards higher than Baker's. If all Flacco did was throw show passes to tight ends, Baker was throwing even shorter passes..lol

Congrats Baker, you deserve this, you have worked your ass off for it.

Jackson did more than that as Browns coach! He lost every game that season, then only won 1 more in the next half season before they finally fired him. His replacement won over half the games in the remaining season, and was immediately let go, because a Defensive Coach wasn't the direction the Browns were looking for a coach?!
