I think the reason why he didn't make it to the finals is because he said that what he sings if it's "not from the heart, then it doesn't mean anything" That might be a clue that something went down, either with the staff or even Simon himself. Also,Simon knows more than were led to believe about these artists. He said at Gabriel's audition that "I can tell you sing in church" so Simon knew this info about that beforehand.AGT is anti-church and anti-Christian, believe me when I say that. Also when Simon said "You could've sung something more obvious, but you chose this song "I tend to believe the opposite happened and that Simon suggested this song for Gabriel to sing bc he was probably gonna sing a Whitney song or "something more obvious" and Simon didn't like whatever it was. When it comes to song choice you can bet Simon is gonna give his two cents.

The song was not big enough for a contest and a big moment like this. Problem with shows like this quite often the show picks the songs for the contestants against the will of the contestant. Nightbirde had to fight very hard to perform her original song "It's OK" when the producers tried to pressure her to sing a cover. Angelina Jordan did not really want to sing Sara Bareilles's version of Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road". Yet the show bend over backwards to get clearance from Bono and U2 for the blind girl from Indonesia to sing a huge song "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For". It is clear who they think in their mind who is the potential worthy winner for the show's ratings and reputation in these times. Some people are so great in talent shows like this yet they are purposefully dealt with a bad hand to play with. Angelina Jordan could've won with her own song choice or at least ranked much better in the end. Nightbirde would not have blown all over the internet and received Simon's Golden Buzzer if she sung a cover. BTW you cannot have only singers to be judges at AGT because the show is not just about singers.

However, it's uncertain whether he expressed the desire to sing it before it became her choice. The way it was told, it seems like 'Stand Up' was on the list, but there's uncertainty, as what was mentioned is that Gabriel spent two weeks trying to convince the producers about that song. Nonetheless, the U2 song was not on the list and the producers pursued the band to secure the rights. Whether 'Stand Up' was on the initial list or not, and whether the producers sought the rights or not, we won't have confirmation without additional information.

Hi Nick, its sooo good to hear your perspective of Gabriel's voice. The AGT judges are not singers. I've not heard them sing. Its disappointing sometimes to hear their comments because it can sway the viewers votes. It is a talent show, a dance group, magician, comedian, an animal act could win. Really, the whistle has helped him attract people and it's easier to define him by that, but it's exactly like you said, even if he didn't whistle it would be beautiful. In the original song there is no whistle and it is beautiful the way it is, Gabriel increases the difficulty of the song with the high notes he created that are also not present in the original. É lamentável que ele não foi classificado para final, mas ele já é um vencedor e seu merecido reconhecimento, carreira de sucesso e fama mundial certamente chegará. Eu continuarei o apoiando. It's very hard for me to watch Gabriel's video's right now. I get really emotional and tearful. His semi-final performance was perfect. I have never heard anything so beautiful. There's someone who knows about music, talking like you said. Many Brazilians thought that the choice of song was wrong and that he could choose a song that he is already used to singing. I see it on the other hand, he chose a different song and in my opinion this didn't have a negative impact, it just showed that he can sing better. But unfortunately he lost the votes. A great performance in which I saw him in the final. But it wasn't this time! He has the potential and will always shine, regardless of the direction he takes his career! He wasn’t given a choice what to sing. They made him sing that song, which he nailed to perfection, but it still wasn’t right. AGT was trying to make him their monkey, which he will never be. Now he can escape from that dismal debacle of a show, that travesty of talent and get on with conquering the world as the greatest male singer this generation has ever known. I've seen a few people speculating that he didn't go through to the finals for a few reasons: 1- he doesn't speak english and the show is in the US and maybe Americans won't appreciate someone that doesn't speak their language; 2- it is a talent show, so he's competing with many different talents and perhaps the audience wants to see something different because there are singing contests as well; 3- wrong song choice: however, in ky opinion his rendition was beautiful, his mom clarified in an interview yesterday that he wanted to sing "I wanna know what love is", the production rejected, then he asked to sing "Stand Up", they also rejected but he kept insisting but no success. So they suggested this song although he didn't know it, he delivered beautifully. So, yeah, we'll never know why he didn't make it, but it was a great opportunity to show his talent in a big TV show. I hope he receives great opportunities from now on 😊

Agora, se o fato dele não falar inglês influencia ou não na escolha do público, eu não sei! Não sou americana.... mas vi um casal de americanos que são fãs do Gabriel dizendo que sim, ele erra algumas pronúncias e de repente o Americano médio se incomoda com isso... E não questionei o talento dele, mas sim disse o que muitos estão dizendo que por aí. Tudo é especulação, a gente nunca vai saber os motivos e nem sei se precisa. It's a crime when Chakra Khan got 4 yesses but was eliminated from live show. About Gabriel he is good and will become a star and so do Chakra Khan who has a unique raspy voice. Both of them will shine as a superstars, as more people have recognized their talents. I guessed American people doesn't want Mariah Carey's clone, male version of Mariah. The groups who are qualified in the final were spectacular too, that's why the competition is very tough. Just enjoy their music, continue to support them and be happy.

When Heidi said that he "busted out" some tunes she was referring to the two songs he sang, this one and the Whitney Houston song he sang at his audition which he slayed. The problem with Howie is that he doesn't wait for the finished product. He doesn't understand that you gotta allow the song to build up.
