I'd say she was in the right. Her mom said "I want to live my own life from now on" and with how she wasn't specific until her affair came to light, that says she intended her life to be having a rich pushover husband and a stud. For all we know she was probably trying to go back to square one by getting her rich husband back until she could find another stud this time that's single.
