To summarise what dude said for small-brains/Ultra-beginners like me; Only ever push objective when 3 or more people in the enemy team are dead. 2 if you’re confident. Other than that, stay near teammates and shoot any enemy who tries to move in. Really good advice, dude.

Also the Octo Expansion helps you learn a couple ranked modes. No Clam Blitz or Splat Zones though. But if you really think about it.. Girl Power Station is pretty similar to Splat Zones 🤔

@@PinkGiratina chargers are the GOAT, though I play a very mixed style using basically any weapon and style, my favorite is always chargers, and e-liter is basically the best one for zones though it gets less kills it helps on support and inking

I'd offer a counterexample to what you said at 5:43. If you're playing something with ninja squid (or you're just trying to shark undetected) and you want to change directions it might be better not to sub-strafe, because it causes you to rise out of the ink slightly and makes you more visible to the opponent. Nice insights as always :)

now im curious. I know i should learn sub strafing, but i dont think ive seen a good enough example of just how big a difference it makes in top play. Maybe a session where you ban yourself from using sub strafes would illustrate just how much of a difference they make? I hypothesize that you will feel like you are limping, but there is also the chance that you would be surprised by how small the margin is.

You should look up a video that explains sub-strafing. To summarize, it cancels your momentum while swimming. First thing, when you use the left joystick to move back while swimming, there is about a second of momentum decrease before starting back up again the other way. Sub strafing instantly cancels this and will save you time when swimming. For instance, say you swim into a just planted Booyah Bomb, you only have just a second to completely swim out of it's AoE. The fact that it takes such time to change your direction by 180 in the ink, just make it nearly impossible to get out of it in time. Trust me, It's worth it.

I would say a best opinion weapon would be inkbrush so you could rush and escape to the enemy side secretly. That all I can give. I do it all the time and it’s so funny for trolling and invading haha.

Any advice when you are in lower tiers, and you are always down 1 on your team? It seems like this strategy only works when your teammates are decent, but if you play too conservative like this, with an incompetent team, you are just basically delaying losses.

well, that becomes ever more context sensitive. most tips for high level play still apply to low ranks, but the biggest factor at low ranks is experience and personal skill. If you are ready for a much higher rank, you should have little problems reaching it and can carry whichever team you are on to victory. Highly specific, but clash blaster can single handedly decimate early ranks of tower control before the average player skill is prepared to deal with it. Other tips are just learning the basics. focus on the objective, not on playing turf war. Learn to move and shoot at the same time. learn to dodge if you take the first damage of the encounter. learn advantage states like elevation or its blind spot counter play. Learn the 3 main routes on each map for objective pushing and respawning, and know when to use each. Avoid walking and prioritize swimming, as walking is only relevant at higher levels of play for the stealth aspect it provides. It sounds counter to all the tips he provides, but in early ranks you basically have to push constantly, regardless of downed members. Only if you cant make progress on your own do you hold back to regroup with someone, even if that means you have to actively cover them with no expectation of them returning the favor. If you are the most skilled player in the lobby, but still need some basic assistance for the win, then take up the flag of leader. There is no way to directly communicate it in solo cue, but your team will generally follow your lead without even realizing it once they notice the skill gap, no matter how small. If absolutely nothing ive said so far helps, the only other tip i can give is to try a different loadout, whether that means clothes that better synergize with your weapon (but that is not required until the highest ranks), or choosing a different weapon that you may just be better at (you cant know until you try, after all).

best guess, the player disconnected before the game could even load their statistics. Heck, i havent ever seen a name formatted like that, either. That is also assuming there was a 4th player to begin with. It seems so much like a failsafe that maybe the lobby started at 7 players instead of 8, and that placeholder is the only reason the 7 actual players didnt crash. Or, the least likely option, a dev with a modified save file was "playing"...
