the original cybertron prime was a masterpiece, but this is still pretty great. as a kid who never got transformer toys that were actually from the shows, getting another chance at having this guy made me so happy. it’s not perfect, but he scratches the itch, and i love him a lot.

As someone who grew up with the Unicron Trilogy, it is a fine bit of fanservice for us and a nice homage, too. I think the figure looks great but it also has its flaws for me that kind of make it inferior compared to the original one (that I still own since Christmas 2006) and it's not something I would get, but I still think it's a good call that they are thinking outside of the box than mainly focusing on just doing G1 characters. Just like with Hot Shot in the Siege line, another UT character!

the knee guns on magnus *are* accurate, they should just be blue instead of black. They're right behind the cab in vehicle mode for RID2001 Magnus, and are used in the combined Super Mode to shoulder mount the weapons.

The Unicron trilogy was my introduction to Transformers, and I've always loved the characteristic, anime-esque proportions of those series' designs as a result. I wholeheartedly agree that there should be more modern takes on those designs, but I don't feel like this one does justice to the original, or indeed the general characteristics of these designs.

Absolutely the greatest Optimus prime headsculpts to come out of the WFC line, it nailed the yellow eyes and reminds me of how pathetic ER's head looked with the blue eyes next to a blue face under a blue helmet with only the facemask to break up the blue

The sculpted slant on the armored-up feet is so the wheels clear the ground in robot mode. A cost saving measure I assume to avoid having to engineer collapsing wheels or whatever.

While I agree that I want to see some more Unicron Trilogy bois, I've found their attempts so far a little lacking. I think they're missing the crazy factor that came with that line up. Like you mentioned, no cyber key and no flying firetruck. But also, where are Leo Breaker or Wing Saber supposed to go? Hot Shot was okay, but he's tiny, when the original was huge and had bowie knives! The new tries are almost too conservative, but it does at least show Hasbro/Takara have the nads to give these a second glance, because even 3rd party is JUST starting to look at these

At least Hasbro didn’t let this part of the fandom die. They are just using the designs with more modern takes so that they can still make profits. I don’t disagree with the original concepts of the series and figures. But those purposes aren’t going to sell as much as they would for the older audience. Considering that Hasbro is going full kids only mode. Which is really odd considering the price of this guy is for older people than a kid….

Honestly the only insane prices I've seen for Cybertron figures are Megatron and Galaxy Prime, Galaxy Prime in box is like $300(CAD)! You can get Starscream in box for about half that price

Honestly, this makes me glad I got Cybertron Prime back when he was new. The Costco version where it was him and Wing Saber for less than the price of a Leader. The original holds up extremely well and this is a poor man's substitute for that toy if you ask me. If you can't afford the original this will serve as a viable option, but if you _can_ find the original for a good price don't bother with this one. But I will say if I did have this and displayed it without the armor, I'd keep the chestpiece attached along with the shoulder pads, so it keeps the full Cybertron Prime look minus the mouth.

Imo Cybertron had the best designs, both before and since. They were almost 100% show accurate (looking at you Savage Claw mode), had a ton of variety and most of them looked really good in both vehicle and robot modes. This Optimus Prime looked so dang good in every mode, even if the flight mode was a bit basic.

It is a significant height difference as I own the figure and the kit myself. But the armor still works if the legs are kept compressed instead of extended and you would still get a good range of articulation out of it

Starscream is the only Armada figure rumored for Legacy so far, I hope he come with swindle. Blurr is rumored for the Velocitron subline, i hope he comes with Incinerator. That's one thing that disappoints me about Legacy, there should be an entire assortment from core to Commander class dedicated to Armada for its 20th anniversary.

As far as upgrade kits, I really like (QC issues aside) the DNA Designs kits, but only because they allow you to *shift the knees down the leg where they always should have been* , albeit you have to "mistransform" them. Seriously, the biggest problem with the core robot isn't the proportions of the legs, but where they put the knee. It's in the middle of what should be his upper thigh. The only downside of using the mistransformation to fix the knee is that you have a *tiny* gap on the sides of the leg, but honestly seeing the side of the knee strut move when posing gives me Mech-Tech flashbacks.

What annoyed me when he came out was all the complaining about being worse then the OG toy and more expensive at retail. Like, things were much different in 2019 to 2006. I honestly kinda like this one more since I can actually pose it, since my Cybertron one can't pose at all in the armor due to the weak hips. Also you should totally look into the DNA kit for him, I think it's the only kit to make the added height look good in a smart way.

Glad I snagged this for a little over 30 on ebay last year. No box, but still complete with the manual. Despite the hollow parts, I do love it, although not as much as the original. Seeing this and the original makes me wish that the legends version had a mini trailer to go with it. I figure if they were able to make the small THS-01 Galaxy Convoy, they could have done it with the legends figure. That and a legends Wing Saber.

@@JM64 What is OG Galaxy Prime? I do have the old leader Cybertron Optimus and it's a superb toy. A bit simple in transformation and articulation of course, but very accurate to the cartoon and I have tons of fun playing him (and others Cybertron bots). With the Cyber Key gimmick, we can shout "Cyber Key Powwwweeerrr!!!" while playing and that's the most fun aspect of these old toys. Nowadays they can reproduce and give them more modernized look but without the Cyber Key gimmick, most of the fun just felt absent

I enjoyed the unicron trilogy even with me being in high school when it came out. I would like more hasbro releases to scale better with most of my collection. Need an armada starscream. I really don’t mind the height difference the upgrade kit gives but the only reason I bought the kit was for accuracy sake. The panels for the cannons also adds to the completeness of the figure. So you can choose to get the upgrade kit for the cannon panels, you don’t have to do a complete upgrade (spoilers: the leg articulation for the upgrade is a godsend. Enables for very dynamic one-knee cannon blasting action)

I got this when it came out, and OH MY GOD I love it so much! I also have Siege Ultra Magnus, and they look INCREDIBLE together! They looks amazing with my Earthrise Doubledealer and Siege Soundblaster, and I’m soon gonna get Lionizer, who will fit amazingly, and I have a sneaking suspension that having GUOP and my upcoming Volcanicus as like a JoJo stand thing would be beautiful!
