She made the final decision and acted upon that decision on her own accord without any prodding from Killian. Did that immediately make him a good guy at the time? Of course not. We all know he, out of all people, was far from pure. He wasn't perfect, and still isn't, but he's come a long way from where he started. I love Belle, but she is such a flipping hypocrite, here. I mean, really, you JUST find out the guy you love once murdered his wife, and then you have the gall to tell someone else who understandably wants vengeance for that (not saying it's right, because it's not) that HIS heart is rotten? Well, shit, Belle! I can at least understand where Hook is coming from. HOW many people has Rumple murdered? And many of them in cold blood, no less. I don't care if he is under a curse, he's still responsible for those deaths to some degree. He still has free will, even if it's compromised to some degree. He isn't a damn robot. Belle should be running away fast, not waxing on about how Rumple is great and Hook is rotten. And what's worse is that we never see her confront Rumple about this afterward. So frustrating!

Well, what about looking at where Rumple is coming from? He was afraid to leave his child fatherless and became the town coward for it. His dad left him. Everyone looked down on him. He took the power to constantly wanting to prove he was Strong. Also since Milah left him and Cora rejected him, he thought that No one was able to love him. That why he have been in disbelief that Belle actually loved him. He was so afraid to be a Coward. That doesn't make it Better that he killed so many. Its not an excuse, but its an explanation

While Hook may not have had darkness in him, he spent the same amount of time thinking of nothing but vengeance for his wife, and yet there is not a speck of black on his heart when Rumplestiltskin tears it out. Even Mary Margaret has a piece of black on her heart and she's always preaching hope and kindness. Rumple's heart isn't true at all nor is Killian's rotten.

To be fair to Belle, it took her some time to see that Rumple had good in him - we see that in "Lacey". The only encounters she had with Hook up to this point had all involved him threatening her or using her in some way - it's logical that she would doubt/mistrust him. I do think that now if they had more scenes together, Belle would see that Hook's heart isn't "rotten" at all, at least no more so than Rumple's. Belle's smart and perceptive, she just needs the time to get to know people =)

There was always that sweet guy we saw before he obtained the dark one's powers. I think Rumple was full of love, but since he was hurt so much he decided give into the dark one nature and rely on obtaining magic and power instead of love

Belle mentions the time how Rumple was BEFORE he became the Dark One, by saying that she sees that his heart is true. Before becoming corrupted that was the time he was a good man. THAT is what she still sees in him; that good, loving man whose heart is as pure as gold. As long as he's bound to that dagger, you must see him as the Dark One, and know that as long he is the Dark One he'll do bad things. BUT his intentions are good. I like this character alot. Like Belle, I also see him as true.

I've never claimed that Hook stole Milah, I'm just annoyed that he let her leave Bae the way she did, without a word. She didn't even leave any kind of message for him. What makes it even worse is that Hook told Bae he was abandonded too, so he knows how it feels (unless he was just lying). Being in love is not good enough explanation. I think they were both just cowards.

I like how Rumple and Hook's story causes so much interesting discussion in the comments. I personally think it is odd that Belle looks past Rumple murdering his wife. Milah may not have been very nice to Rumple but that does not excuse him killing her. It was evil. Although Hook wasn't really in any position to talk. He murdered charming's father and his own. He knowingly left his little brother an orphan though I can't quite remember if he knew charming's dad had a son. Haven't seen that death scene in ages. I also don't think the fact he weirdly gets into Belle's personal space in this scene and erases her memories at the end of the episode should be overlooked. At this point both are horrible villains. Hook and Rumple both became decent people in the end though it took the latter much longer.

Judging from season 5, episode 14 (from their only scene together), I think he saw the spirit of adventure in her and someone who was passionate about traveling like he was. She saw an opportunity to have a better life and even though it was despicable of her to leave her own child, she had all the right in the world to make that decision.

Milah's choice was not Hook's fault. But he was in the same plot with her. What I'm trying to say is that their way to run away was nasty. When Milah asked Hook to take her away, he should have to tell her to sort things out with her family first, or at least leave them a message, instead of humiliating Rumple and ignoring Bae.

To the people who say Rumple is anything but pure and good. That is not true, we all have our demons, and by the way he suffered, I don't blame him for the way he is. He's just like Erik from The Phantom of the Opera. Sure, he killed and it's a moral sin, but people change because they want to be strong. Even a monster was a gentle person until someone did them wrong. That's what Beauty & the Beast is about. Not just 'don't judge a book by it's cover'.

I don't think anyone felt sorry for Milah when Rumple killed her, a seer spooked him which made him injure himself so he didn't have to fight in the ogre war...not to mention after becoming the dark one he then stopped the ogre war saving all those kids and brought them home! And he never would have killed her if she hadn't been cruel and rubbed it in his face that she never loved him, she was a horrible mother and wife who used Rumple's 'cowardice' as an excuse to run away and Rumple was led to believe she was dead...of course he would be even more heartbroken and angry when he found out she basically left him and abandoned their son. However I also understand that Hook loved her and it broke his heart when she was killed. But Its not Rumples fault that Milah pretended to love him, she should have told him the truth..only a coward would pretend to die just to get out of being honest. She ran away from her husband and son while Rumple was forced to give up the good in him just to save their son... Rumple was a very timid man, and his love for his son drove him to kill the Dark One and become the dark one. Rumple is the only character who went through so much to get his happy ending, he made a lot of things happen for other people so that he could find his son and in the end he had to watch his son die. The one thing he fought so hard for, losing a child is the worst thing that can happen to a parent.

I think Gold's son, Bae/Neil, is Peter Pan. Because in the episode were Emma finds Bae/Neil in he talks about how he's had run ins with Hook in the past. And then when Belle said, "He just wants to find his son" and Hook said, "What makes you think he wants to be found?" I'm convinced that Bae/Neil is Peter Pan. And either Hook and he were good friends because of the bitterness against gold; or, bitter enemies because Bae/Neil was Gold's son.

he has, but i think that Dark One curse makes your heart dark. (after all it's dark magic). The previous Dark One Zoso explained to him that the curse was a burden. I think you have free will, but the curse makes you chose the wrong path. I don't know, i'va always thought in that way since the chapter when Rumepel kills Zoso and becames the Dark One
