"erased from our memories, but the imprint is always there." Pretty much explains why I'd listen to this without realizing until now, ten years later, that I had been a victim of sexual assault as a child and that's why I had depression.

You hold the answers deep within your own mind. Consciously, you've forgotten it. That's the way the human mind works. Whenever something is too unpleasant, to shameful for us to entertain, we reject it. We erase it from our memories. But the imprint is always there.

Meme kay you're exactly how i am. One thing I wish the most in life is to figure out and remember the memories that shaped me how I am today. I don't have a lot of people to consult, I don't have an intimate relationship with my parents, I have broad recollections of events that happened in my life because most of the people around me know about them, I wish I could remember what my reactions to them were though, because that is what leads to the adult personality we develop later.

Conscientemente, lo has olvidado.

it's okay to feel the feelings that you feel. Numbness is a normal response to trauma - but try to let yourself experience the breadth of your emotion, dive in headfirst, maybe with a counselor or someone that you trust, or even just a journal. It can be hard to imagine, but there will always be another dawn. You can love yourself, you can break the cycle of pain. If you break the rule that "hurt people will hurt people," you will just be one more beautiful light in the darkness. I believe in your strength!

I think I now understand her song. Now that I've studied it countless of time just to get it. Though I am still unsure of it. Can someone please enlighten me with their own understanding of the song? I am really curious of what is behind it.
@kerryherring5638 жыл бұрын
+Michelle Villaruel This song is almost exactly the same as 95% of their other songs, it is just telling the story in a slightly different way. All of these songs are about dealing with pain of some sort. The way it is dealt with is either demonic or possibly split personality. Think Gollum/Smeagle from Lord of the Rings. Just like the spoken words at the beginning say, when the pain becomes too much it gets pushed away, or rather the personality that is suffering hides (imaginarium) and the "other" comes forward. All of the songs tell this story. There are several key words to watch for to help know when this is happening. Truth/Lie, Waking/Sleeping or Dreaming, Breathing/Drowning, Light/Dark, Living/Dying. There are several other devices they use repeatedly to tell the story i.e. water in all its forms represents the pain. Look for the repeated words in their lyrics and unlock the story.
