Ascension is probably one of the most nostalgic maps for me from BO1 and I was super excited to see what was outside the map. There's tons of cool geometry out there and even a few hidden details - like a figurine of Samatha?!?

That warehouse factory thing outside the map looks eerie I love it. They should make a large factory map that is just basic zombies, survive as long as you can.

WaW style gameplay in a huge desolate factory would be awesome. Even something like Atlas Superstore from modern warfare would be a cool creepy zombies map

At the end you brought up a button prompt, and I was waiting the entire video for that because it's the one piece of knowledge i already had coming into this video about things outside of Ascension, in both Bo1 and Bo3 theres a prompt for a door, when purchased it actually does move a door down by Mule Kick, originally it was supposed to cover an opening the player can go through Theres another one of these on Der Eisendrache, the room with the power switch has 2 doors, one is already open and the other requires power, the one thats already open was originally supposed to cost 750 points, the prompt for it is above the ceiling in no clip

I truly would love to see some custom mappers expand on this idea and make mods that add expanded exteriors that are playable to the existing maps or something like that.

the room in 27:38 is gersch i believe. His soul gets torn from his body by the pentagon thief, and is stuck in the kasimir device which spawns nearby when you do the final step of the easter egg

Yeah, it is a bit tedious having to type out every command - but glad it worked out, happy to have helped and thanks for the lil shoutout, that made day! Another map I'd suggest noclipping is the fan remaster of 'Call of the Dead'. It's really well made and has lots of cool little discoveries to find outside the map. Speaking of - I forget to mention cuz I only just recently discovered myself, but you can actually walk on the majority of the outside of Ascension, all the way to those building way out at the outskirts and on even on them. Nutty that there's that much collision out there but not closer to the map

ascension uses assest from a campaign mission, its literally the rocket site. also theres a mulitplayer map that has the bottom of the rocket open, and the boosters kill you if youre under them when testing goes on

I've got quite a bit of level design under my belt with the Source engine, and I'm recognising a lot of similar tricks used in these maps too (given cod and source both have their roots in Quake and work somewhat similar). You're spot on with the red cubes. Cubes are extremely easy on the engine, basically no performance hit, and all of them are well outside the playable space. They're just basic lights. The ones further away don't need to actually emit light because you'd never see such detail that far out. It'd be a waste of map size and compile time

The late development cut content that they had no choice but to keep on the map is the best. There’s so much playable space, the cut rooms still exists. Im surprised you missed the secret 4th lunar lander

Those blue line are suppose to show where you have been. I.E. Out of bounds. It follows your movements to a point. Orange and blue colors. If that made sense.

Unfortunately, you can only follow it so far before everything on the screen turns blinding white. I'm sure a Dev could explain it a bit better, but this is because the thing that gives light and color to the map has a limited volume.

Since they built this version of Ascension from scratch I really doubt any of the stuff out of the map would be leftovers from the BO1 multiplayer/ campaign version of this map. There wouldn’t be leftovers from BO1 in BO3, and least I’d really assume not
