If you just want to have a good time out on the water, a square bill just flat catches fish, it's a fact of life. Great video Tyler, keep up the good work!

I've caught more big bass on a sqaurebill then any other bait in the box! Good tips buddy!

I do not have a boat and I have never caught a fish on a square bill. I use a 6:3 reel and 7 ft 1. Pole. Medium heavy. Hoping this year I will catch one. I have all kvd 1.5
@ItsPotatoxTornado5 ай бұрын
I was the same as you. You have to see what color works for spring I was told the craw is the best but not always. I also Use lipless cranks I had some luck with top water frogs in late fall but it all comes down to experimentation.

I notice that most anglers often overlook silent squarebills. Trust me, on pressured or gin clear waters, ditch the rattles. You'll catch more fish.
@billyhill24882 жыл бұрын
The smaller Berkley Squarebull is my bread and butter on the highly pressured lake I fish mostly. Also can't beat balsa when it gets even tougher. I tend to throw silent mostly until they get deeper and start doing high wind cranking.

Square. Bills surprised me. First time I threw one I caught 2 , 3lbers back to back casts. And man they slammed it.

I am a riverbank fisherman. I have used Square bill around bridge pillar support without any luck. Casting up river bringing the bait over grass and wood. I try not to bring it through the wood without hanging up on laydown. I have lost Square bill in current

I prefer a composite rod for cranks too. I like that sweeping motion you mentioned near end of video. I do that sweep w/lipless cranks w/good results. Thanks T 👊🏼😎🎣

I like a medium/lite 7' somewhat parabolic graphite rod with 6:1 reel. And line with .011 diameter (like Yo Zuri Top Knot 12#). I'm a squarebill and crankbait junkie in general.
@shawnbeck23032 жыл бұрын
Hey, Billy. I have been fishing for over 56 years. Never heard of the Parabolic fishing rod. I use a 6'6 glass rod medium action. The KVD 1.5 Sexy Shad has been my #1 squarebill crank for 3 whole fishing seasons. There is something about that crank. I caught 43 Largemouth in a hour and fifteen minutes. On that crank. What is a parabolic rod? What's the big deal about it. Could you please explain in your own words. So this old fisherman could understand. Thanks, Shawn.
@billyhill24882 жыл бұрын
@@shawnbeck2303 Parabolic just means the rod has a more lazy action where more of the rod bends instead of just a small section of it and great at keeping trebles from pulling out. A parabolic rod can be anywhere from extra whippy to broom stick stiff. Good chance that glass rod you use is about as parabolic as it gets. You want a fast action for big single hook stuff like plastics and jigs. Most of my cranking rods are BPS Carbonlite rods in medium, medium-lite, and medium-heavy. They're labeled as "fast" action but in my opinion more parabolic than fast. I like to have the same series of rod in different actions for the consistency factor when cranking but for finesse stuff where sensitivity is king my heart is still with St. Croix for the money. A really good graphite cranking rod for the money is the Abu Garcia Vendetta.

Hey Tyler this video was really good! My question is for you that if you will see this or anybody else that does read this would like to know what I’m doing wrong when I burn a square bill I always seem to get snagged. I thought it was because I was moving it too slow so I went faster and I still keep getting hung up whether it’s lay downs, stumps even sometimes rock. If you or anybody that raises can give me some advice it would be extremely helpful because this is one of the topics that is my weakest! Thanks for your help

Greetings, my friend, I do pray that this intel will help you moving forward.... 1. Check the depth of the square bill. Make sure you are getting down to where the lure can perform. 2. Try a jig...with the right trailer, they come through cover/structure exceptionally well. 3. Fish em from a boat! Having access to go get your snag is a blessing. Also, try wading in a creek with a square bill. You can also most times go get your snag! 4. MAY THE 'BASS FORCE' BE WITH YOU!!!!!!!

Sup. Great video. Squarebill is my nemesis lol. Ri has a lot of grass, sometimes pulling it free I get a bite. But afraid of the tall grass 1-2' below surface? We have 1 big pond called stump pond because lot of stumps?lol. I have my best luck there. I just get confused or scared to use where most of bottom is grass or weeds on bottom? You talked about grass so gives me little more confidence.

Great info! I've been putting "soft" split rings on most of my crankbaits but, haven't gotten around to putting any on my RC 55's. Lost two out of three this past Sunday. I know that you posted a video on them not long ago but, I haven't seen you actually put them to use. Any reason why?

What would you recommend for river fishing I live next to the Connecticut River
@LUE682 жыл бұрын
I'm curious about ur Bruin reel. Are u sponsored or just prefer them. I bought a deepdive sub thru ur link. I hope that credits you? I figured out the skipping thing by torquing the tension knob and brakes. I was skipping a magdraft really well. Someone recommended to pull out 25 ft of line then apply tape across reel so if it snarls it only goes so far.

Hey I live in Southern Ohio and other than ponds there isn’t a lot of places to fish around me do you have any places that’s remotely close to this area to fish? Figured you might know since you live in Ohio too, if your in Columbus I’m about 2 hours south of you I can throw a rock in the Ohio River from my porch

@billyhill24882 жыл бұрын
Depends on how good you are with a baitcaster. The new Curado 150 is AMAZING with very little weight. I can sling a 1/4oz squarebill a country mile with it. This is where a really limber rod also plays a big part. Just stay away from stiffer line.
@BassFishingHQ2 жыл бұрын
I typically use a baitcaster with the 1.0, but you could use a spinning rod
