Buying a meal at $1 isn't easy, and selling it at $1 is even harder. But that's what Cik Zaliah does at Kedai Makan Muhajirin, and she does it out of her love for her Toa Payoh neighbours. ❤

Actually in Malaysia ...people moans when there's a hawker that sells Nasi Lemak for RM2... Yes Malaysians Nasi lemak usually sells around RM1/RM1.5 And this makcik sells for 1SD is actually good...there's room for profit(a whole lot more than people selling at Malaysia) and the neighborhood likes it too....

I don't usually make the effort to comment but I feel there is a need to in this case. Please keep making videos telling such heartwarming stories of everyday Singaporeans. It's a refreshing change from the usual spew from the larger and more popular SG channels! Very well-edited and I like how the video was entirely focused on them, without any intermediaries.

Don't you guys watched the clip before you all comments. She already say she have the heart and is catering towards her target audience the elderly who due to Singapore economic have force elderly over 60years old back to work to meet end meat. Many retired elderly who once work in office line find themselves back to work be it a dish washer or a McDonald's staff due to drastic increase price on daily things in Singapore. This was before the Convid-19 outbreak.

To all who are about to comment "SG$1 converted to my country currency is A LOT, I can buy XX plates of rice in my hometown, etc"... Please remember u have to compare with respect to the amount u earn. Example is u earn RM3000, u would think RM1 is not expensive. But if u do the same work but be paid in Singapore SG$3000, then SG$1 is not expensive. Bcoz the cost of labour/rental/etc are also in SG which is higher.. meaning if the food cost 3 times lesser in your currency, but u also earn 3 times lesser in your currency (for the same work) then it would be a more valid comparable.

Better than my primary school food. Their nasi lemak if u buy the $1 meal they only give u less than 1 scoop of rice and a small piece of egg. Like bruh. Btw im still in primary school. I'm P6 and I got tired of their food. It's not even nice. Edit: And that piece of egg that is served to students in my school is half the size of the egg u see in 0:03

All these non Singaporean viewers think it's not a big deal for us to have a $1 Makcik's Nasi Lemak. Just so you know the value of your converted currency has little to no value here. No way in Singapore you can find a $1 decent meal not even in 7 Eleven where they charge $3.80 for a sandwich! Don't talk like you live in our economy.

The portion may be small but it is not as poor as it seems first. The egg gives protein, the fish gives vitamins and a bit omega 3. Of course a young person needs a richer meal.
