She used to tell me all the stories from 1001 Arabian nights and while growing up I developed interest in the structures of myths and legends... These videos are magical…it is in your words and mastery of the English language, you warm tone, your acknowledgment of the presence of negativity in the world, in your beautiful way of showing that often a sliver lining exists within the negativity, and in how you choose to work through the disparity and find optimism. Thank you. I listen to the videos to remember that I still have the capability to feel, deeply. I am not dead inside, but rather I am typically emotionally blunted. UPDATE: I have been informed that Nebula Classes isn't directly included in the CuriosityStream + Nebula bundle but instead requires a small $1 upgrade. I'm sorry about not communicating this more clearly, I really thought I had all the info correct. Nebula Classes originally started out as a premium service but was later rolled back into Nebula, and so I figured this would also apply to subscribers of the bundle, my mistake! I'll be sure to double check things like this in the future. The best way to get access to the class right now is actually to just go straight to Nebula and create an account: nebula.tv/how-to-analyze-stories Thanks everyone!

RRR is probably my fave movie. I think you're right, Western cinema has lost it's sense of fun in favour of some nebulous idea of "realism." And this one was just fun, and larger than life, and full of imagery I'm never gonna forget. My other favorites I've seen are probably The Northman, Nope, Del Toro's Pinnochio and Banshees of Inisherin

RRR was just a typical south indian movie.. The reason it was not submitted from the India for the Oscars..
@devilhunterred Жыл бұрын

@BrokenTooth Жыл бұрын
@@nightwing8525 No, I would disagree. I have seen south indian films like KGF, Pushpa, Vikram, Kantara, and Bahubali. And RRR is overall way better in terms of craftsmanship. There are no redundancy in Action scenes, the two main leads are expertly written, the storytelling is masterful. I do think that the first 2/3rd of Bahubali 2 has the best drama ever written on an Indian blockbuster, but even Bahubali 2 felt exhausting and rushed with that final act. KGF felt like it was edited by a 14-year-old who was inspired by a thousand epic trailers. Kantara had some great scenes, but there were so many boring moments where the story was dragging. Vikram, although a great film, heavily relied on the hype surrounding the big actors to please the crowd. RRR had no franchise backing it up other than Rajamouli's name. The characters were introduced as characters rather than movie stars. The story was masterfully told given how deep the subject matter is, while at the same time allowing the movie to be over-the-top exhilarating. Sure, it's not a perfect movie by any means, but it's fun and its fun does not derive from any existing franchise or the fact that the lead actors are two of the biggest names in South India. So, when you say it was just another typical South Indian film, you're missing the point as to why RRR became the worldwide phenomenon that other Indian films failed to reach. I'm saying all this an avid movie lover, who loves the experience of Cinema. And out of all the movies I have watched, it was RRR that urged me to recommend to my international friends in the US, Australia, France, and Russia. And they all loved it because it was a fantastic film even without or especially without the context of how big these movie stars are in India. In contrast, I showed KGF to my friend in France and she was confused about whether she was supposed to be rooting for the main character because his moral code was so questionable, it was hard for her to connect to him as a character.

I watched 13 lives 2 days ago and it has stuck in my head. This story was so powerful to me. I felt dread when watching it and when they were getting closer, step by step, to saving those boys with their incredible united action, I felt like some miracle has happened. I still feel like that. Something so wonderful in each and every person that dropped everything and did all in their power to help save lives. Magnificent situation and great depiction of it in this movie.

Just yesterday, I watched, Three Thousand Years of Longing, and I loved it! Tilda Swinton is wonderful. Being a storyteller myself, I resonated closely with the main themes of storytelling and elevating people into new awareness, appreciation of themselves and the world around them, and thereby seeing and experiencing the world anew. The cinematography and visual effects of colour and dissolution of elements in the 3D realm, really took me into the visceral experience of other worlds. I loved it, and it made me want to explore how to produce movies and/or television shows. It is a Kennedy/Miller production, and no doubt, all of that experience of building the detailed worlds of Mad Max and Babe, has paid off in the set pieces in this movie. 4 stars.

Everything Everywhere All At Once & Decision To Leave were very impressive to me, too. Originally, I didn't really watch movie reviews, but I started looking for a lot of reviews from these movies. There are a few that come to mind. “Hundreds of universes needed to fully understand a person's life.“ (Kim Soo-Young) ”Life is a wave of probability that depends on your choice and a particle that exists at the moment.” (Im Soo-Yeons) “Like the fog of Ipoh, a fictional city, love is densely packed in the frame. The movie completes the love through eternal pending.” (Son Hee-Jeong) “Like the clothes that look blue and green, We sink deep into our heart between pending and eternal.” (Lee Dong-jin) It was a rich year to see various movies besides the two previous films. After watching the video, I found out about movies that I didn't know, so I should watch them. Thank you!:)

I watch close to 100 films a year and I still miss a lot, but it's really about watching the films you want to see, the films that move you and changes how you think. Of films not mentioned in this video, go watch trailers of: Licorice Pizza, Broker, Hustle, Aftersun, Turning Red, Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, The Wonder, Causeway, Glass Onion, She Said, See How They Run, Three Thousand Years of Longing, Bad Luhrmann's Elvis, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, You Won't Be Alone, Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood, See For Me. A nice companion to The Menu would be ”The Thief, The Cook, His Wife and Her Lover”, some three decades earrlier. If you haven`t seen it, it is... a treat (mild food/plot spoiler :D). And a piercing social allegory. Plus: Helen Mirren

I loved this, you seem like a wonderful person and this has been a great video. I hope you enjoyed the veggie burger after The Menu, good film! I hope you get 1000 Patreons and are able to make that long video, I'm sure it'll be a good one. Sounds interesting.

Love your list. :) 'Tar' reminded me, very much, of 'Crime and Punishment' while watching. Great performance by Cate Blanchett (which is like saying 'Good play by O'Neill.) 'Everything, Everywhere...' was amazing - and, I agree; it felt like life in 2022. But, I love the message of hope: that if you can filter out all the noise and static surrounding us daily - including that within one's own head - you might can find what holds real meaning. And, I think you'll love 'The Banshees of Inisherin' - it made me laugh, and cry. '13 Lives' reminded me that the 'best people' are the ones whose names we probably will never know, but do their part to help strangers in need. You also gave me good suggestions for the films I haven't yet seen. (And, thank you for including 'The Lost City' in your Honorable Mentions. It wasn't 'deep'; it was just fun. The chemistry between the two leads was solid, and the script was a delight.) Thank you, for all your work. :)
