For this to be a useful video it should show downtown and surrounds, not cars driving down a road. It would also be helpful if the creator had spent 30 minutes gathering approximate home prices. If a "lovely peaceful town" has average homes selling for $900,000, it probably is not of interest to the average KZbinr. Many of these towns are lovely - but very pricey.

All towns and cities in upstate NY are quaint because most if not all industry has been driven out. For example, IBM, GE, Kodak, Xerox and many others, taxed out of the state or out of existence. Unless it has to do with Government, or Utilities, there are very few large employers.

Small towns are great. Most all rural areas are Republican run. Upstate cities have the same problems as any Democrat run cities. High crime, drugs, and gangs.

As someone whose family has lived in Canandaigua ("The Chosen Spot") for 200 years, I fervently hope outsiders will NOT "discover" the area. The best thing about western NY is how far it is from any destructive giant metropolitan area--the kind that destroyed Vermont and the Adirondacks. And Batavia? Are you kidding?! There are half a dozen places near Batavia far more scenic, historical, and generally interesting. But don't tell anyone.

The Hudson Valley is beautiful, but there is a lot more to New York State than one would think based only on this video. The only two places in the western half of the state that were mentioned were Aurora and Batavia. Having lived in central and western New York for 30 years, I can think of much better choices, for example Ithaca, Geneva, Corning, Fairport, Canandaigua, Naples, Orchard Park, or East Aurora (which is about 100 miles west of Aurora) to name a few.

I was born in Beacon 75 years ago. It wasn't "trendy" then. The natural beauty was the real deal. Now that NYC has moved in, taxes are sky high and it's crowded with people trying to be socially and politically correct. It's interesting how people tend to bring with them the very baggage they name as reasons to move from one place to another.

It's the greedy polititians raising taxes and everything on people this polititians are so bad and evil that most older people who are retired and have their homes pay off can't even afford to live in their homes because in some towns they have very high property taxes some of them have to get government assistance to not loose their homes it's like they and the banks do it on purpose to take people's homes and nobody complains or protest about that it just evil what their doing to older people.

The best situation is to be undiscovered. Places like Santa Fe and Jackson Hole were discovered and living conditions for locals became difficult. Tourists do not spend as much as they used to. When I lived in Michigan they joked about that. They said tourists came in RVs with a 20 dollar bill and a clean set of underwear. And when they leave they have not used either item.

The video is bit too Hudsn Valley centric. With the exception of Saratoga Springs,it ignores the Adirondacks region. and then there is western NY with its numerous picturesque towns along the Erie canal, e.g. Fairport off exit 46 in Rochester area. I give it a grade of B- b/c it is was good as far as ir went. Send to re-write. BTW, my wife and are 47 year residents of NJ, but we are both from NYC. I am a graduate of SUNY Buffalo.

Not much mention of the many more beautiful havens in Western/Central NY, but we like it that way. Logistically, these harder to find "gems" will be pricier, and if you're motivated politically as a middle ground republican, at least currently, the status quo will remain federally a blue state, but many , many localities are of a republican nature, which causes many thinkers to say NYC should be separate from the state. This isn't as bad as Oregon, but similar. However, if you like Nature in it's purest form, you'll be hard pressed to find such a green state than here
