Teacha Karen, thank you for sharing the Ten Commandments for ESL teachers. You're great! I am a newbie in teaching ESL and I need a lot of guidance. That is why I am following you so that I'd be able to navigate safely in this new sea.

A lot of ESL teachers made content in youtube about ESL companies, how to get hired, how to ace that interview but nobody made contents such as yours. I am an aspiring ESL teacher. My journey towards being an effective ESL teacher is rough. There are a lot of things that I need to improve about myself as an ESL teacher. There are a lot of things to learn. I have a lot of questions but I can't talk to anyone. I truly appreciate this content. Thank you teacha Karen!

I have heard of teachers whose homes were damaged badly by the typhoon but they still got penalized. In the ESL world, a penalty is a penalty. I had problems with my pregnancy and lost my baby, yet the management's concern is when I would be able to come back. These are the inevitable cons / disadvantages of being an independent contractor

Hi, teacher I am currently working 8am-5pm and i want to apply sa Acadsoc part-time po. Ask ko lang sana teacher, if ever po mag apply ako part time may chance po ba na makakapili ako ng sched sa teaching na hindi po masasagasaan yung work ko na 8-5pm? Thank you po sana mapansin mo po ito. ♥️♥️♥️

Hello Deina, oh yes, you can work part time. Let's say 7pm-11pm weekdays and sa weekend dapat mag work ka at least 4 hours from 10am-10pm 🥰

The problem with having only ESL company to work for and no other is not very good advice as it makes you a dependent contractor and this get you into legal issues in certain countries. Most ESL companies work with Freelancers which means you ARE NOT an employee but your own company.

That's right, you are responsible for your taxes, in the Philippines, we call that being self-employed. It's not really a problem as long as you know what you're getting yourself into and what your responsibilities are.
