One Sunday while interpreting Mass into American Sign Language (ASL) I heard the deacon read, "I will prepare a place for you, come back and take you to Myself, so that where I am you may also be". Now, when I'm interpreting I sign what I just heard while listening to what is being said. There is no time to meditate! Yet, in that moment un-mistakenly, I felt God's Presence. It was if He was saying , "I mean YOU." Although deeply moved, I managed somehow to keep going without faltering. Later, I bought a Celtic locket to put the verse in. I have it on now.

If any of you have done the BIAY, go to episode 259, and it is all about the Gospel of Matthew. It will give some extra to the portion of this show about anxiety. This episode (as always) is great! Father Rich and the Ryans did a great job expanding on that portion of the Gospel, but it was good to go listen to the whole section in Matthew 6. I love it when it all comes together.

A thought on "I thirst": In the Agony in the Garden, Jesus prays that the "cup" of his Passion might pass from him. Then, at the moment of its fulfillment, he asks willingly for that bitter drink. I think this summarizes a perfect obedience to the will of the Father and the salvific work taking place.

John 15:9 "As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love." This one blows my mind. That the love that exists between the Father and the Son is the same degree of love with which Jesus extends to us has to be one of the most self-image/identity altering things that Jesus tells us. Unbelievably empowering but also humbling.

John 14:1-8. Specifically John 14:2-3. “ In my Fathers house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you. I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also will be.” 2Timothy 4:7 “I have completed well; I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” I have prayed these verses with people are nearing the end of their earthly life and it brings them comfort.

The words of Jesus on the Cross "I thirst". You should read Scott Hahn's book : The Fourth Cup: Unveiling the Mystery of the Last Supper and the Cross. Dr. Hahn interprets Jesus stating "I thirst" so he is given a "4th Passover cup" to drink which will complete the Passover meal and seal the "New Covenant". Jesus and the Apostles left the upper room and their Passover celebration before they drank from the 4th and final Passover cup, which was done in memorial of the original Passover and would have completed the dinner. It is very interesting to learn about all that occurs during a 1st century Passover meal and one thing that took place was drinking of 4 different cups of wine that all had different meanings. The 4th and final Passover cup completed the meal and was skipped by Jesus in the upper room, something the Apostles would have definitely noticed and wondered about... Hence, not until Jesus has completed his passion on the Cross and ready to go the Father, is the New Covenant complete, thus he now calls for the 4th cup. So "I thirst" is much more than Jesus telling those around him that he was thirsty.

Starting in A.D. 638 Islamic Arab armies rode out of Arabia and quickly conquered by brutal military force the Judeo-Christian Holyland and then North Africa. Egypt had been Christian for hundreds of years prior to being conquered and its Coptic Christian population subjugated. The Crusades valiantly fought to retake the Holyland. I could go on but I hope you get the point.

I'm surprised Father Rich did not open with "Picture this" on seeing Ryan's shirt! Incidentally, they sit in a semicircle around a table like the Girls. Also, Our Lord's response to the Pharisees discussed in 19:28 is precisely why I reject alleged healers and holy men and women who hang around only with the elite. It's painfully common here to see a priest corrupted by worldliness: they entertain only rich donors, and savour the high life with them instead of ministering to the poor and unchurched. A rich parish here once had some snobby families send their maids ahead of Sunday Mass to reserve them whole pews by the altar. The parish banned that entitled, ludicrous practise only after other congregants complained. So uncomfortable hearing Mass there because they can be loose with the rubrics and the parishioners are a generally condescending bunch. A skewed representation of the Church that should welcome all regardless of their station in life. Same goes for a specific group here that supposedly Operates for the Divine, as they only invite the socially successful, intelligent, and rich. No servants or middle-class folk allowed into what has become a religious country club. I thus agree with our traditional belief that when the Lord genuinely makes miracles through chosen people, He withdraws such gifts when the person turns to a love of money and self-glorification. Perfect example was this late priest who loved tennis, and would fly overseas to watch matches. Ironically, he fell dead during a game without receiving Last Rites.

That isn't the meaning of "turn the other cheek" entirely. We know from other historical sources that the phrase was common in the ancient Middle East. There is a level of mercy involved with it, but turning the cheek was a dare for someone to do it again. This is because it was believed that the only way to hit the other cheek would be to backhand someone...which was viewed as being effeminate. So it wasn't "be a door mat" it's "give a bit of mercy to re-think their anger before you have to take matters into your own hands" which is still a great lesson. It teaches patience.

You've talked about Halloween and Day of the Dead. The fact that there has been traditional history on this holiday does not make it right or non pagan. It may be dangerous when gothic history is influenced by giving it a right of passage because of some melancholic traditions. Don't let evil deceive by seeing it as cute or good. Please guide me. Thanks and, may the Holy Spirit guide you and me.
