I record a lot and there’s no way I can keep the list at 10. A guitar with a P-90 a must, Rickenbacker 6 string solid body I use a ton. I have a Tele Cabronita which sounds great. You have to have a Taylor which sits in the Mids better than a 000 Martin. I recommend the 214 DLX which has great tone in the studio and not a price killer at $1300. I have two 6 string Ricks but for a 12 string electric option is the Schecter Stargazer and is a great option. If you don’t want to pony up for that a Dano 12 string with solid EQ does the job. Another needed guitar is a Tele Custom it just has a completely different sound at the neck pickup. I also use Fender Roland VG guitars because they can do almost everything from real time alternate tuning to sitar. So like Baxter I have a problem. If you move onto pedals and amps, then it’s a bigger problem. Good show guys!

Good call on the nylon. They have a distinctive feel and voice that you can't get with a steel string. Now some other essentials in my studio that you left off. My PRS P-22 (gotta have the piezo), 2 Fender Jazz Basses (one fretless), plus an assortment of other variations of Strats, Teles, etc. This isn't meant to be bragging, I'm just an old guy who has had a lot of time to collect this stuff and I am retired so I have a lot of time to play them. Now the most important question....You have all of the gorgeous guitars hanging behind you in your videos but I can't seem to find any of them on your website. Are any of them for sale? BTW, I had the ric 12 string but found the neck just a bit to narrow to play comfortably.

I'd probably be ok with just one steel-string acoustic. Whether it's a Martin D-18, D-28, Furch, Guild D-20 or even Yamaha Red Label, all could do the job for me. You can do a lot with mic and mic-placement to get a dreadnought sounding good at fingerpicking. But I'd want a P-90 guitar in there, tough call between SG with P-90, or a Casino, but I think if pushed I'd go SG. I'd drop the 12-string too because I'd need a Jazzmaster. Or better yet, my Baum Wingman, which plays and sounds better than Jazzmasters to my taste, and the Bigsby is so solid. On Gretsch, many would go 6120, but I think I'd go with a Jet. It's true than 10 guitars is kind of tough, because I would like a 000, a Jazz Bass too (honorable mention). So 12 guitars might be my lower limit for well kitted out guitar studio, if you're including acoustics and basses.

Thanks for the video. Interesting topic. I’m not interested in being able to cover all the tones, though. I am interested in perfecting my tone, however. I play a telecaster through a Marshall DSL combo and it gets me really close to the ideal tone I hear in my head. Sometimes I think about getting some pedals, but more practice is probably the best bet.🎸

With ten slots available and trying to get almost every tone, I definitely would have put some sort of baritone guitar in there if it were my list...But obviously it’s not my list lol.

What about an L-5 or and ES Les Paul instead of an ES-335?

I have 26 electric guitars, 9 acoustic guitars, 4 electric bass guitars, 1 upright acoustic bass and a slew of vintage and modern amps in my studio, all high-end gear. Instruments I don't need; what I need is a sound engineer to run the place. If there's any experienced studio engineers willing to relocate to the High Rockies area of Colorado (about halfway between Aspen and Vail) please PM me! Oh, yeah - the 335 has to be red. :-)
