I would say English Mastiff is first. I think the St. Bernard that was supposedly 357 lbs. is rare and undocumented. I saw the 343 lb. Mastiff on a TV show where they put him on the scale. Mastiff routinely get well over 200 lbs without being fat. Mine were 255 and 286. Big, heavy, muscular teddy bears though, not fat. Bernards I've seen are upwards of 200, sometimes a little over.

My Great Aunt's family always had an English Mastiff - they all weighed around 300lbs. And such gentle dogs too. I used to roll around the garden wrestling with Duke when I was a young lad. He was around 300lbs.

Most of this is silly. Kangal for instance. Typical male weight 110-130 lbs. There are multiple other Turkish breeds alone, like Boz and Malakli, that are considerably larger and heavier.

Yeah, I’m not sure about that. We have found that our bull mastiff and our St. Bernard are smaller in size. Female bull mastiff at 90 pounds male St. Bernard at 170 pounds. Seem to be doing great with age. Our bull mastiff is nine this year and I swear she seems like a pop, and they don’t need the vet they have no problems Now we have always had them on raw food from reliable sources with no antibiotics or hormones. I think a major component to the longevity of dogs is the food.

Do you know of Bobi in Spain? Lived to be 31 years. We are feeding our dogs wrong ( we need to stop kibble and canned) and stop with the preventative drug and vaxxes. So say Dr. Becker and other alternative and holistic vets

@ unfortunately is a fact. My Johnson’s American Bulldog and my Cane Corso both lived up to 12 years. Their vet said that he never saw those breeds live that long. On the other hand it’s very, very common smaller breeds live up to 18 years! Anyway, I wish you prove me wrong! Long live your Bulls!

You missed the Sarabi ( Persian Mastif ) dog of the western Iran. They are usually about 40 inches tall at the shoulder and weight up about 100 Kg or 220 lbs. The female are a little lighter and smaller. They are known as the wolf killers in Iran. They are big, loyal to the owner and the family, agile and powerful.

I adore English Bull Mastiffs. The first one I ever met visited the nursery my families friend owned, he was so big they didn't let him near the youngest kids just in case he bumped them or sat on them!! 18 Stone 4lbs I still remember that to this day. Was kinda disappointed when I met some more when I got older & worked in kennels, FAR from small I was about 250lbs at the time & walked the bigger dogs because they dragged the women around!! Funniest bit for me? Those dogs dragged me the F around too!!! Im sure they just got a laugh out of seeing me getting towed by the biggest Mastiffs 😄 Need a bloody saddle for some of them I swear! Get me a chariot & a couple harnesses? Im set!

Two problems. Really big dogs like these tend to have very short lifespans. Also, a number of them drool copiously. One additional point is that most of these dogs weigh more than I do. They need to be trained to avoid pulling on their leash. In general, behaviour training is essential.
