I think one of the main reason people put the better character menu is for the colored text for the name personally i got it but i modified the character sprites and replaced the with (i think ) mike character sprite or sum the uncolored version which is pretty good in my opinion

It gives rules with right click you make the items disappear but to make them appear you need to press "J" in a room that is not the start

Its juste an API it does nothing on its own, its like a tool requires to make and install custom stage, like the ones you can see in many mods like Revelation, The Future, or Fiend Folio

-potential glitches if mods conflict (though the community is generally on top of making sure stuff is generally compatible, or mentioning what mods break each other) -bigger content mods can sometimes cause lag or framerate drops (mainly something like Fiend Folio depending on the PC) -if you don't have a lot of progress/knowledge of Isaac, mods can be seen as "cheating" or straying too far from the intended experience (but if you already have every path unlocked/have seen most of what the game has to offer, it's fair game I think)
