This marked number one dog is not of Illyrian origin as the new conquerors (Albanians) represent it. It is called "Šarplaninac" after the mountain in the Balkans called Šarplanina (Serbia) and originates from Kosovo and Metohija, which was used for centuries by the Serbian population in this area. Today, this Serbian population is being expelled from its centuries-old hearths and their heritage is constantly being erased or used under other names.

Great Pyrenees is the most used LGD for a reason. They're big, strong, protective, but not batshit crazy agressive. You can trust them to do their job of protecting your family and livestock. Only downside is they bark alot and have a very loud bark, but all LGD's do too.

This guy is true fuckin dog lover. If you don't know Ilyiran Shepherd (Šarplaninac) where I'm from, you don't know what a powerful dog is. There's a movie about one killing two wolves. This dog bravery is unmetched. Also we don't know his bite force, but it's form 600-800PSI,but it's not tested as many other breed's.

Only Kangal, Alabai and Great Pynrenees are real working dogs in this video. All others are show breeds, which does not work as LGD. You can find many videos that show Kangal or Alabai chasing wolves but not much for Irish Wolfhound etc...

Ican not see any of these breeds defeating a Timber wolf in a one on one battle maybe a sub-spicies like the smaller ones in Europe. But not against a grey wolf 150 lbs. or more it would take two or three Kangeldogs

Timberwolves are not much bigger than Grey Wolves and there are many Grey Wolves in Turkey. Americans like to exaggerate everything. The biggest Timber Wolf, which caught, weighed about 175lbs. There are many Kangals or other LGD breeds, which have more than that....

Interesting they do not mention Akitas, I have 2 now and have had 5, they all spend time in the backcountry Candian Rocky Mountains with me. They have chased away Grizzlies and Timber Wolves, not the small ones in this video. They have met all of these breeds at the dog park, note mine are trained to tolerate all breeds of dogs, all of them avoid my dogs are go on their backs showing their belly's. I trust them with my life and one night at one of my favourite backcountry camping spots which is a hike over 3 mountains at 7400ft, 16km away from the road they kept a dozen timber wolves at bay until daylight, again not the small wolves they show in this video.
