Honestly the little athlon might perform a lot better with another stick of RAM. Ryzen loves memory bandwidth and so do iGPUs so going dual-channel could give the little chip a much better fighting chance.

Already mentioned this once but the Sad thing about these laptops is most of these am4 athlon models feature ram which is soldered directly onto the motherboard

Green Ham Gaming and a Precision M6600? Sounds like a dream come true, Got a M6800 myself and i love it to death, even with its weight and inefficiency, i wouldn't take any other laptop over it!

I'll Throw my foot in the game. I got a Lenovo Ideapad Y580 for $50 with an i7-3630qm, a GTX 660M, and a 1080p screen. I spent an extra $25 on 16GB of ram for it and about $50 on an SSD. Making it right around $125 or £100.

For comparison, 2745 on CB r23 and 2875 graphics, 5501 physics, and 804 combined on Firestrike. Think the cpu was throttling a bit on the physics test, though I haven't repasted it yet.

Those old workstation laptops make wonderful entry level gaming PC’s. Some of them even have upgradable GPU’s. I recentlu picked up a Precision M4800 with a 4910MQ, 32GB Ram, and an UHD screen for $80. Upgraded the GPU to a M2200 out of a newer Precision and it handled 1080P gaming very well and could play just about anything at least at minimum settings

Having eaten several generations of laptop, I'll say that Dell Precisions have a nice texture, but modern slim laptops are much easier on your teeth.

8 gigs on the athlon laptop would have made a lot of difference. It's was being choked bad.

@@RMoedoe Yes the 4 gig is soldered but it has an additional slot that can take upto 16 gigs. In most cases it limits the maximum ram to 20 instead of the factory specified 24 gigs max.

nice! i got a dell workstation laptop a few years ago for similar price on gu,tree. i7 4th gen quadro something and 32gb ram and loads of storage! ex engineer! it's my xmas gaming laptop when go to my parents but it weighs a tonne! but it doesn't break! my old i5 6xxx with 740m got damaged .. now it's just my back :)
