Only 15 mins in, but I have a few things to add: Re: Cersei's prophecy - Maggy the Frog allows Cersei to ask 3 questions of her. Dissatisfied with the answers, she throws a potion vial or something and flees, along with her friend that was with her, Melara. During the questioning, Cersei is told that she will have 3 of her own and "six and ten" with the king. She is also told she will be choked to death after she loses everything by the "valonqar", which is Valyrian for 'little brother', leading many to speculate that Tyrion might be the one to kill her. Some also believe Jaime, since Cersei was born first by a couple of minutes, making Jaime *technically* her little brother. This is that exchange: Cersei: When will I wed the prince? Maggy: Never. You will wed the king. Cersei: I will be queen, though? Maggy: Aye. Queen you shall be... until there comes another, younger and more beautiful, to cast you down and take all that you hold dear.[1] -Maggy in the dream of Cersei Lannister Cersei: Will the king and I have children? Maggy: Oh, aye. Six-and-ten for him, and three for you. Gold shall be their crowns and gold their shrouds, she said. And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you.[1] Melara asks her about Jaime and is told her death will be tonight. After the two fled the cave, Melara begs Cersei not to tell anyone. Shortly after, she falls into a well and dies. This is that exchange with Maggy the Frog and Melara: Melara: Will I marry Jaime? Maggy: Not Jaime, nor any other man, Worms will have your maidenhead. Your death is here tonight, little one. Can you smell her breath? She is very close. Re: The maesters and Targaryens- I can't recall where I read this, but the maesters are not fans of magic. The Targaryens, being the dragon riders and some believing their blood is magic, are the antithesis of everything the maesters believe in, that is order and rationality. You'd think they'd value knowledge above all else and therefore would want to know everything about everything that exists. That lends a lot of support to the theory that the maesters want to kill off all Targaryens or anyone with Targaryen blood. Re: Sansa and Ramsay Bolton - In the books, this union never happened. Instead, Ramsay marries Jeyne Pool, a childhood friend of Sansa who is pretending to be Arya Stark. This works because Arya was super young and hasn't been seen since Ned's beheading. Re: Theon and Reek - in the books, I believe Theon is still at Winterfell with the Boltons and is referred to as "the ghost of winterfell" in one chapter heading. Re: the Direwolves - in the books it is said that one of the stark men went over the wall to chase this beautiful, pale, white haired woman with deep blue eyes (yes, those kind). The starks are said to be descended from, or at least have mated with, the children of the forest. All of the starks can worg in the books, but not all of them know thats what they are doing. Arya, for example, has a "dream" in which she is a wolf running through the forest to a river, where she pulls the body of Catelyn Stark from the water. (MAJOR BOOK SPOILERS) This leads the Brotherhood Without Banners to come across her body, bringing her back from the dead as Lady Stoneheart, a terrifying woman with a deep, scratchy voice from the slash across her throat. She joins the brotherhood and goes through the riverlands taking vengeance on those who wronged her. Thats all for now. I want to watch the rest of the video.

This is my second comment, but it needs saying. So look, I get that theoretically Ned could've done this or could've done that and have stayed alive and in power. He could have kept a peace between most of the kingdoms and lands, but not all However... I don't think it's being recognized what his character is about. Sure, he COULD have done those things, but no, he most definitely never would. He is 100% honorable. He does his duties even when he disagrees with the rules. He wants peace, but not at the cost of dragging children from their beds. He is without a doubt a great man. The point of his story is that a great man is never going to win the game. He would rather consign himself to death or the wall rather than do a bad thing for a good reason. Some would say that is a flaw, sacrificing the greater good for honor, but that's Ned Stark. It's tragic

At the same time, with Martin not shying away from horrible stuff, red wedding and all, and there is a mention in the books of some girl who got... taken advantage off in a very brutal way, in King's Landing, that left her emotionally messed up to the point where she could not, or would not, talk anymore at all. Yeah... I could see him pulling something like that off.

Thanks! A lot of good info that I didn't catch in the books due the extensive number of characters and subplots, BUT I maxed out at ~1 hour. As for the HBO Series, I watch it as a good visual approximation of the Books, since screen writers love to S#!+ all over their source material because they wrongly think they can do better than the Classic its based upon. (Like calling the HBO Series "The Game Of Thrones" after the first book instead of "A Song Of Ice And Fire" (Season One TGoT...))
@LibertyRapsher8 ай бұрын
I haven't read the books, but I find it so bizarre that so many things were changed and in some/many of those instances there doesn't seem to have been a logical reason for doing so. And I'm not a book purist I'm a big believer that a decent amount of written material doesn't convert/translate well to the screen, so I think some things need to be changed (books can get away with nearly anything because they let the readers imaginations fill in the gaps, whereas video format holds your feet to the fire to a much greater degree). For instance, Lady Stoneheart would not have converted well to the screen, so that change makes perfect sense... it would have been nearly impossible to pull off without coming across cheesy, so I understand changes in that realm, but for whatever reason they changed so many unnecessary things. And that's the benefit or should be the benefit of these high budget TV series shows. For the first time ever you can tell the story you want without being rushed. Movies have the change the shyte out of the story to cram it in a ridiculously short format, but for a tv series like GOT, there really was no reason to alter things to the degree they did. Even little stupid things... like why would you have Brianne best Jamie at sword fighting, when Jamie's supposedly one of the greatest ever and shortly therafter he loses his hand which makes him a lessor version of his prior self, so why would you create a new narrative that somewhat offsets that. And then later when Aria defeats Brianne 3 times in a row as if she's fighting a small child. At that point the Waif must be the greatest fighter of all time (of course there's much more to the Waif which we will find if GRRM ever finishes his books). Arya only got one over on her because she tricked her and fought her in the dark, but the Waif destroyed Aria.like nothing repeatedly. Also D&D had one of the most brutal schedules of all time with no writer support, so why would they make their writing jobs so much harder by changing so many little things when they could have kept so much more as is?

I buy the theory that L didn’t want to marry Bobby and she intentionally went after R. It’s a classic case of two people having different views of their relationship and it’s kinda sad that Robert spent his entire life holding a torch (and going beyond that in destroying a kingdom and the lives of those around him) for a woman who didn’t love him at all.
@adipsous8 ай бұрын
I don't know if you'd call Lyanna - or Arya, who is compared favorably to Lyanna - a feminist, but she would have seen from a mile away what kind of womanizing, unbearable man she was in store for with Robert. Robert's enduring 'love' for her is all probably based in possessiveness. And his wrath in fighting the war was rooted in the same. He's probably incapable of realizing her point of view that she might have different needs and desires than what he has to offer and would never be able to grasp that she escaped a life with him of her own accord. Quote: "I can't even remember what she looked like. I only know she was the one thing I ever wanted... someone took her away from me, and seven kingdoms couldn't fill the hole she left behind." Sounds like it could be a blind, disregardful possessiveness to me.
@adipsous8 ай бұрын
It would be interesting to analyze Ned's relationship with - his thoughts about - Robert, and see what actual affinity existed in his heart. It's a bit hard to imagine a genuine brotherly affection Ned would have for Robert considering Robert's brash, boorish, thoughtless and egocentric personality. It must be a complex story of reasons and compromises and obligations that led Ned through that war and beyond.

Mance Raider isn't supposed to be a wildling, he was a Brother of the Night's watch that deserted, so the "wildlings dont know how to use longswords" thing doesn't work. Also, he was pretty famous so those in those in the Nights Watch probably would have recognized him, but still possible because you renounce you're titles and such so changing your name isn't too far. Since it doesn't look like GRRM will ever finish the books, I prefer believe that both Arthur & Ashara are in the Neck waiting to help Bran & John. With Ashara married to Howland Reed because HE was the one Ashara likely slept with not Brandon Stark..
@lawv8048 ай бұрын
I always liked the Mance = Arthur Dayne theory. And Ashara's body was never found after her alleged suicide, so she isn't confirmed dead. The Daynes are going to have a huge part in the story. Not sure what. But GRRM has kept the House Dayne words secret because he said they'd be a huge spoiler.
@washingtoncommandcenter55418 ай бұрын
@@lawv804 I kinda like Mance's cannon being raised by the Nights watch backstory too, it could even potentially open him up to a pardon, even in Stannis's eyes, with him potentially never actually taking the black, just growing up and staying on there until he eventually fell in love with a wildling woman like his pops. That might also explain why he's still got "sources" in The Night's watch (not everyone sees him as a deserting POS) that tipped him off to King Bobby B coming to Winterfell when he made his wanna-be Bael the Bard trip. I also think Ned would have recognized him at that point if he did. I thought there was an off chance Cold Hands could be him, but he's likely a former Night's Watch brother too and I think the most famous knight in Westeros, who's supposed to be dead would have been recognized even at the Wall. There's no Night King in the book, and I think Cold Hands might actually be him. I think Arthur & Howland are Blood Raven's Exfil plan for Bran.

As for how she spoke to him, she was sword training him and she wanted him to understand, if you want to fight with a sword, then you cant come off as so nice or even dense. Small error Jon definitely feels guilty about Ygrittes death but in the books he at least gets the peace of knowing he wasn't the one who killed her. Jon fletches his arrows all w the same color feathers tho idr if his r black grey or white but whichever it is the arrow that killed her was not the same color as Jon's so he's able to at least accept her death knowing he wasn't responsible or since in a bigger picture sense her death is still a result of his betrayal he at least knows he didn't kill her himself

Henry the 7th never took another wife after his wife died by childbirth. They had also already lost their eldest son and only had his younger son Henry the 8th and daughters. Even when they told him he should remarry and have more potential heirs. He never did. I think he never got over her death, same for Twyin. It's written in the books Twyin had a lot of love and respect for his wife, including asking her for advice.
