Done well mate, was looking forward to this video for the final piece of the puzzle. Certainly is a one of a kind engine. Similar to you both my old man and I have an FTE but he just likes looking at his with 40,000 on the clock. I’m 402,000km. All the best,

Great videos mate. And great effort. I was a Toyota mechanic when 100's were new. Although I never pulled one down as far as you have as they were all low kays at the time. I own a 100 now which has 165k on the clock. My plan is to start modifying it to make a bit more grunt. I noticed you are running a red wheel. I think ill just go the green wheel as my car is running the A750 5 speed auto. Which I will upgrade valve body in first. Cheers lad. Once again great vids. All the detail you have put in is great with links to Toyota service manuals etc.

Good job! How'd you go about getting the harmonic balancer torqued up to 490nm? And dump and flush that green coolant all FTE blocks require red Toyota super long life coolant.
@WillsLandcruiser2 жыл бұрын
It was definitely a temporary coolant- all I could get my hands on on a Sunday 😂. We have a torque rattle gun with several tightening settings. It’s capable of 2100nm so one of its lower settings got it to about 490nm!
@Nick-sd7um2 жыл бұрын
I read somewhere that the whole red/green coolant stuff isn't as applicable these days in the sense that it's largely just colouring and either can work provided the system is completely flushed before switching.. my understanding is the issue came around from people not completely flushing one coloured coolant before putting another in.. Have seen plenty of people switching without issue in patrols and cruisers.

Random question unrelated to the video, but do you know if 15" rims fit the HDJ100? As far as I know only Tundra, Sequoia, LC 100 and LC 200 has 5x150 bolt pattern. Would be strange for someone to produce 15" rims if no one can use them 🤔

What did you time the fuel pump too? Or are they non adjustable? Havent done an fte before
@WillsLandcruiser2 жыл бұрын
They sit on 4 studs to prevent rotation. Being electronically assisted, I believe the timing is in the hands of the ECU.

Well done Will, I am planning upgrading my 061HDT-FE Turbo and Injectors can you post where you purchased and costs for the items and where did you pick up your turbo boost reference from again great job
@WillsLandcruiser2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words. Go look up “High Performance Diesel”. They’re a local business in Adelaide that initially installed all the go-fast bits. You’ll find there’s about $10k worth of upgraded parts on the engine there. And the boost is picked up right from the allocated position on the turbo 👍

Hi Will! Do I have to bleed my injector pump after replacing my fuel pipes? Did you have to do it after 1hd-fte rebuild?
@WillsLandcruiser2 жыл бұрын
So you’ll want to just pump that hand primer on the fuel filter and and make sure it’s firm, meaning the fuel is right up to the pump. Then crack just 2 or 3 injector lines loose at the head of the injector and bleed the air out there by turning the engine over. Should be right after that!

5:23 Is that a 80 I see in the background? 😜🔎 Is it a new addition or just a mates your helping out with? Also saw a 75/9 series a bit later when the engine was fitted. Noticed there was many Cruisers to help with the job, even two to help with startup. For a moment I was worried when I heard the first startup, I thought something doesn't sound right.
@madcat45632 жыл бұрын
Anyway great job Will, awesome to see the replacement engine working and your dad is happy. This past weekend on Saturday there was a Overlander meet and greet at Terrain tamer. I met someone who had a super rare troopy. A factory 1HD-FTE, and there were only 15 imported by Toyota to test the market. (For anyone who's curious this is for the South Africa🇿🇦 market). Unfortunately sales didn't do well. This was all new news to me and he also said the engine is detuned compared to the 100 series. So that might also have influenced the start up, not sure not a diesel mechanic. 😜
@WillsLandcruiser2 жыл бұрын
@@madcat4563 that’s awesome to hear! Pretty cool about the FTE troopy over there! I reckon we have a few of them in Australia too. And yes you’re right about the 80 series. That’s my brother’s current rebuild project! Hopefully that’ll get a showcase on this channel when he gets it running 🙃 And his daily is the 75 series with a 2H turbo. That poor old girl just about needs a full rebuild 😂
@madcat45632 жыл бұрын
@@WillsLandcruiser Exciting stuff. Quite the collection of Cruisers your family has. Is the 80 a diesel? Would also be interesting to see a rebuild on the 2h if that happens even the 80 if that's still possible. Just a suggestion 😜👍
@WillsLandcruiser2 жыл бұрын
@@madcat4563 yeah we’re definitely “landcruiser people” 😂 The 80 was an old petrol… but just on the quiet it now has a 6.0L V8 in it! And the 2H rebuild would make for a good video!

@dcf4762 жыл бұрын
@@medic9544 seeing as they disconnected the fuel pump there is no chance of fuel getting into the cylinders but when turning it over to build oil pressure you can distinctly hear that one out of the 6 cylinders turns easily. Hopefully it was just a sticky valve BUT at the end of the vid from the back of the car you can hear it 'pop pop pop pop' like one cylinder isn't firing.
