There is a 100 years window between when an event occurs, and when full honest discussion about that event becomes permissible.
This why one should fight hard to win the narrative right after the even occurred. Because the next opportunity may come long after one's lifetime.

I guess there are exceptions to this 100 year narrative window which can widen or shorten the gap. For example you still cannot talk about slavery in a non emotional way in the US even tho it's been more than 150 years since the abolition.

This is the revision. Made by the 68-ers. In the 1950s, the debate about slavery was already unemotional. The post-factum emotion was brought in as part of the revision. The cycle will reset again in a decade or two.

@@FreedomAlternativeExactly, I noticed that my mother's (African-Caribbean) generation is extremely emotional around slavery but her mother's generation generally doesn't care about it beyond special holidays and a handful of monuments.

23:50 Most anti-colonial movements were Soviet-funded, the entire anti-Apartheid movement in South Africa that used terrorism and were funded by the Soviets, yet the pro-Soviet ANC is still in power today. Europe is essentially throwing itself into a License Raj all because the Socialist economic model of overregulations aren't allowed to be criticised. Politics is almost all emotions and very little logic.

21:00 My grand-father was a Holocaust survivor, it was very emotional for him and my father's generation, meanwhile when I was a kid making Holocaust jokes was the norm and people were completely disinterested into the topic beyond a historic curiosity. Germany's crimes are so distant to us that nobody holds any grudge against Germany in my generation beyond those who were indoctrinated into it.

Does this also play into how awful and bankrupt our current times are? People who actually cared about traditions, codes, and events before the totalitarian modern culture took root and supplanted everything that was before, just died off, and therefore no one left to know or care as much about what it was like before?

Yes and no. The 100 year rule applies to traditions too. Including totalitarian ones. Everything gets revised (slightly or fundamentally) every 100 years or so.

One hidden comment. Let's see if mine one will be shadowbanned as well. I'm too on yt's shitheads list.

If it's any consolation, I don't even know how to hide specific comments. And I never bother to moderate. So if your comment gets shitcanned, it's Alphabet Inc doing it.

@@FreedomAlternative I never implied you hide comments. I know google shadowbans millions of comments per day. But it was funnily ironic to see your video with 95 views in the morning and 1 comment on count - opening comments revealed no comments ofc. And your channel is small, man. Just imagine the cleanup before November.

So, uhm, no. The first known use of "the eleventh hour" was in 1821. But perhaps that person was just prescient.

One could go as far as the Bible and read Matthew in the KJV version, however the term was much more popular post-WW1, as the ceasefire that stopped the hostilities was portrayed as "before it was too late"

Wonder when well get to question that one event were not allowed to question that happened during WW2.

Never, like slavery in the US , there is a bested interest in keeping the event alive for political power
