What's behind the diplomatic breakdown in the Gulf? :
This time it's more than just recalling ambassadors.
Land and sea borders have been closed.
On top of that, major airlines are cancelling flights to and from Doha.
And Qatar residents have two weeks to leave the Gulf states in question.
Qatari leaders say they’re astonished at what they call the unjustified decision by seven countries to cut diplomatic relations.
A cabinet statement said the aim is to strip Qatar of its sovereign decisions.
The Foreign Ministry said: 'The aim is clear and it is to impose guardianship on the state. This by itself is a violation of Qatar's sovereignty as a state.
So, how far will this crisis go?
And what will mean for the Gulf Cooperation Council?

Qatar is smaller than you think....its population is 300k and only about 150k live in the country, the rest are Emigrants (about 2.7M) and 1.5M of its migrant work force are in construction....this issue will not affect Qatar because Qatar has many planes to transport food, although Qatar is very small, Qatar is the biggest Liquid Gas producer in the world, so UAE needs Qatar gas to keep Dubai lights on........

Full disclosure: I know virtually nothing about the politics between the GCC countries in the region. That being said it appears Saudi Arabia is determined to make all the neighbouring countries its vassals and is no longer going to tolerate any independent action, or decision making by its members. Whether this situation turns into something like what is happening in Yemen is going to depend on how committed the leadership in Qatar is to remaining an independent and sovereign nation.

Before these events I did not know that Al-Jazeera is Qatari channel and is infact funded by the royal family of Qatar. I love Al-Jazeera's work and I believe every rational person would say so. I think, Qatar, till now, was acting on the behest of Saudi Arab but has lately gained a conscience that is against this radical islamic philosophy. And this has not gone down well with Top terrorism sponsor that is Saudi Arab. Infact, without terrorist activities, war-nations like US will have no place create a rift and start a war, which will adversely impact the economy of US. i'm wondering if the root cause is the oil pipeline that could be built from Qatar and to Russua through Syria + funding this without the use of USD. If the US gov't looses leverage with the petro-dollar, then the US could spiral downwards into a third world nation and/or loose its dominance in the world. Its not terrorism; although using the fear of terrorism is quite an easy way to get funding and alliance on your side. There is more than meets the eye in this world event.
