Nagash broke several rules on how to be an evil overlord. #6. I will not gloat over my enemies' predicament before killing them. #7 When I've captured my adversary and he says, "Look, before you kill me, will you at least tell me what this is all about?" I'll say, "No." and shoot him. No, on second thought I'll shoot him then say "No." #52 I will hire a team of board-certified architects and surveyors to examine my castle and inform me of any secret passages and abandoned tunnels that I might not know about. #85 I will not use any plan in which the final step is horribly complicated, e.g. "Align the 12 Stones of Power on the sacred altar then activate the medallion at the moment of total eclipse." Instead it will be more along the lines of "Push the button."
@skeith15432 жыл бұрын
well, Nagash is far from perfect, but he's so god damned powerful that he can nearly get away with that kinda shit. However. Rule 52 doesn't apply. The skaven *made* their own tunnels into his place, before then Nagash had huge teams of tunneling undead. He knew every nook in his home. And Rule 85 also doesn't apply because without the intense rituals and spells He was slinging in the finale, He wouldn't have ever come close to achieving the death of the entire planet. Hell, i'm not sure he would have succeeded any way, for a spell of that magnitude would have been countered by the Slann and the High Elves.
@aveimperator17482 жыл бұрын
@@skeith1543 85 still applies because it’s about the plan itself rather than the steps of the plan. You missed a couple of the most fun details regarding Nagash's death. The Fellblade's first strike took his preferred spellcasting hand. Despite being exhausted, Nagash awoke and raised his hand reflexively when Alcadizaar attacked, only for it to be lopped off cleanly at the wrist. Nagash expected the blade to simply bounce off or dissolve upon contact with his hand and was stunned when this didn't happen. The hand survived the Skaven attempt to annihilate Nagash's body. I don't recall who or what was responsible, but something grabbed the hand and took it away from the scene of the battle before it ended. That's why Nagash's hand has remained a powerful relic of the Warhammer world ever since (he's never been reunited with it and it wasn't the thing that permitted his eventual resurrection). You were also a bit vague with regards to the two heroic council members that sacrificed themselves. After losing his hand, Nagash stood incensed before Alcadizaar, realising the Skaven betrayal, and used his remaining hand to fire off the most powerufl bolt of dark magical energy that's ever been cast in the history of Warhammer. The Skaven council of thirteen had to use their combined powers to turn that bolt aside so it didn't evaporate Alcadizaar on the spot, and two of the council fell during the effort. They were however successful, allowing Alcadizaar to strike again and obliterate Nagash. On a more nitpicky note, I don't think you were dramatic enough when explaining Nagash's masterplan and how it absolutely horrified the Skaven when they discovered it. He was about to literally kill off all life throughout the entirety of Warhammer. People tend to forget this, and the implication that long ago the Skaven saved the world. :)

But I don't believe they ever mention Nagash doing this in the video? Unless I've missed/not gotten to that part yet
@Khetsisal33 Жыл бұрын
It doesn't seem like he ressurected the Skaven as it was mentioned by Arch his reserves were running low. This could be for a hundred reasons. It could be because skaven biology wouldn't mix well with dark magic and they crumble away twice as quick as any human zombie, considering what effect warpstone has on them when they are alive, which is extremely potent on them and might cause some issues when funneling magic into them. Two is the fact the Horned rat loves claiming and eating their souls and perhaps might've extended a rite of protection on their corpses as with his symbol does, only allowing them consumed by other skaven as he does their souls in turn, or to simply rot away. Another reason could be that it's just not known how to properly animate corpses other than humans, much less the ramshackled broekn form of a dead skaven who no doubt decay rather quickly under normal circumstances. It took hundreds of years for nagash and company to reliably produce legions undead humans, and it's their familiar territory. Why not choose ogres or something else some tougher beast as the next undead subject if it's really needed? As also shown with vampiric monsters and other twisted human remains, humans are simply the greatest template of corpse. Their bones are the perfect amount of brittle but malleable for shaping. Their flesh holds quite well together, and their form is suitable for organised massed combat and have an easier time than most adapting to environments, whether it's shambling up a mountain en mass or crawling through a low tunnel, the human corpse it suited for all of it. This all despite being driven solely by instict and Nagash's will, can you imagine the crooked mass of skaven bodies trying to shamble up a mountain without ripping their claws into each other accidentally or just being swept away by easily by mother nature? That being said I'm sure other races have been arisen since it's Warhammer i just don't think Nagash specifically would waste effort and Dark Magic on piles of skaven corpses for those reasons

Nagash is what happens when necromancers can learn about advanced death magic even early in life. Most spend a lifetime to get to a fraction of what he was capable of before he started to experiment.

So were the Bleeding Eyes Raptor Cult or the Skaven the first to start that 'yes yes' thing? I can't help but think of the ratmen every time the Nightlord raptors in the trilogy do that.

The results of Nagash snorting powdered warpstone for 100 years are the greatest "drugs are bad, m'kay?" message Games Workshop could have come up with.

All in all, won’t the Skaven, in most cases, be utterly “stomped over” when fighting against a “powerful necromantic entity”? Won’t all of the billions of fallen Skaven just be risen as new undead warriors? Maybe I just don’t know how “limited” even a powerful necromancy rly is in the Warhammer Fantasy world.

Nagash is lucky Ikit wasn’t around yet. A few warpstorm doom rockets and his city would be rubble, assuming it doesn’t react with the warp stone being mined.

Serious question: did the Skaven get a hold of Nagash's books of necromancy? Because that would have some interesting results.

those were in Nehekhara under the keeping of Nerferata. She made the vampirism elixer from them accidently. See they had kept Arkhan alive after routing Nagash the first time. The King of Lamia wanted immortality and kept arkhan from the fires the rest of his kind were put into. Neferata more or less seduced Him into helping Her perfect the ritual and He even saved Her life when the drink went wrong. after the vampires were forced out of Nehekhara, The books ended up scattered across the world.
