A big congrats, big dog! Your channel's always been a great gathering point for the community so it's great to see it hit such an important milestone. If it wasn't for your videos on Yakuza: Like a Dragon before it came out in English I don't think I would've really bothered with it, and if it wasn't for that game there would never have been a long, cascading effect that lead to me having the pleasure of interacting with you for the last couple of years. last year when I had to move to live alone for my university, at first I was scared of cooking because I thought I'd always mess everything up, but this year when I gave it a try and cook some homemade food, at first I did make a little mess up, but when I kept trying, the food just hit it right. and so I start cooking more and more and It's my favourite thing to do in my daily life now. So not only that I save a lot of money, but also I can cook whatever I want. aside from cooking, I'll try to follow your steak recipe, and congrats for your 100K subscribers, Leon

as someone who's struggled with their weight and still struggles with having the time or energy to cook sometimes: cooking in batches is a lifesaver. make enough for at least a few meals, portion them out in containers you can refrigerate or freeze, and you've got a nutritious, homemade meal you can just heat back up in the oven or microwave. meal prep really does make a huge difference (and now i want to batch prep some chicken...) congrats on 100k!!

Well done. A nice hack is to put the chicken in the bag before any marinade, then toss the powders and oil in the bag with it. Then just squish the bag around from the outside. It’s really nice for keeping your hands and surfaces clean.
@devilleon73 ай бұрын
True, true! I've done this before but I felt like it doesn't mix as well as if you do it in a bowl. But maybe I need to just really make sure I'm thorough with the bag squishing.

I'm 28 years old and I can't cook. but I've been wanting to learn for awhile now. Learning how to cook I think I can manage, but it's the process BEFORE cooking that really intimidates me. Planning what I want to eat for the week, grocery shopping, how to store and prep the ingredients, it's all seems like a huge hassle and not many chefs on youtube talk about this. I have adhd so planning ahead is not something I'm good at, I'm afraid I'll end up just cooking the same thing everyday because that's how much I don't like having to decide what to eat. But then I hear you say "it's okay to eat the same thing everyday", "it's okay to fail and try again", "it's like drawing, you just gotta keep practice" etc. it's very comforting to hear from a fellow amateur cook. Your talk in the end is giving me the push I need to overcome my mental block and just jump into it. so thank you Leon. and congrats for 100k subs
@devilleon73 ай бұрын
I'm glad I could resonate with you! I fully understand the feeling of being intimidated by it all. It might hell to jot down things you enjoy to eat that are also nutritious for you, like eggs! And once you have a good idea of what you like to eat and also what to add on the food, you can for the most part just keep getting that every time. And maybe if you come across new seasonings you want to try, get those and see how they can spice up your food!

struggling to have a healthy relationship with food i can def relate to esp since the pandemic. I've now learned nothing beats a homecooked meal, especially when you can taste the love. it's never too late to start learning and improving so i love that for you 💪🏽 congrats on 100k, you deserve it!
@RSRoxyielle3 ай бұрын
Congratulations again on the 100k subscriber milestone! 🎉 Well deserved and heres to more future milestones reached and surpassed 👍 Sorry the beef version didn't work out for you, it seems, but still chicken cooking video achieved! I honestly think it's great you're exploring homecooking, regardless of what prompted you to become interested, the simple act of broadening your horizons is already commendable. And cooking for yourself, I definitely agree is very fulfilling, that sense of achievement when you learn something new is an awesome motivator, so keep it up! Now, I may not be much of a homecook myself, but as for some tips, for the chicken if I'm doing a marinade like this, yes I'd halve a thick breast, or butterfly it (depends if I have a large pan to cook it in or not) and if I wanted it a touch thinner I'd press down on it with a weight like the bottom of a clean pan. Another technique would be to poke holes in the meat with either a fork or a toothpick to let the marinade soak in it (more surface area). As for the marinade, I'd mix the dry ingreedients already portioned out in a small cup/container with the oil and lemon juice, and massage that onto the chicken (a bowl would work well for this especially if I'm gonna soak the chicken overnight and also plan to baste the chicken with the marinade or use the marinade as a sauce/glaze), though for less dishes to wash you could also toss in the spice mix into the bag and just massage the chicken through that, less mess too 😁 Whether your future cooking exploits are off-screen or on-screen, I wish you the best of luck and above all, much enjoyment. As for still figuring out what you wanna do for future channel projects, while it's understandable to be constantly mindful of balancing content between what you enjoy and what your audience wants especially as a solo-run channel, I'm really grateful you've been branching out beyond Yakuza (the horror games streams and the Metaphor stream, and I was also fond of being able to chill and vibe with the Trails streams), while exploring interesting bits of the series as well (the previous short essays about the Nikkyo-ren and speculating about Kiryu's parents). I'll be eagerly awaiting the next video or stream, until then, cheers! 🥂

@@devilleon7 No worries! I really relate to learning to cook for myself as an adult mostly because while I did have home economics class back in school, it didn't exactly inspire a love or curiosity to "learn to cook" properly until a little later in life, when I was finally in college and living away from my parents and for the most part alone. I'm thankful to my best friend (who's a total foodie and a much better cook than I am) taking the time to inspire me to take up cooking beyond just it being a more economical way to feed myself during college and it being a nice form of self-care as opposed to just a chore or duty (which was how it felt to me before all that). 👍
