The BFG 9000 makes doom to what it has become in way. Without the BFG the user has to melt to many monsters with the plasme or shotgon, so there would be no weapon in the base game to do origial (tm) slaughter with

They did make a good use of the browns in this map. I loved watching Doom II: In Spain Only, but the browns in that wad really bothered me quit a bit, as it went on. I mean, I was bothered enough that at one point I had to take 2 week break, and I think I watched a good chunk of the Valliant playlist, instead.

I immediatly noticed that fireballs, blood, flames etc. stand out a lot more because of all the brown. Like, all other colours than brown pop a lot more. Kind of interesting I think.

Brilliant environment design, and what a rollicking slaughter to cap things off! Fans of big IWAD texture-limited browns and consummate detail ought to check out Trashbangs absolutely jaw-dropping map Don't Turn Your Back On The City. Regarding that weird Cyber re-targeting - recently I keep seeing erratic behaviour like this that seems to contradict what I thought I'd learned from your analysis video on the subject. Port screwiness? Or unaccounted source logic?

The source port has nothing to do with as it's demo compatible with OG Doom/Boom. It's just a Cyberdemon quirk where it can "linger" onto a dead enemy if said enemy shoots and hits the Cyberdemon before dying. After it's done firing a volley of rockets it can search for new player targets, but because the previous target died it will immediately infight when hit by enemy fire. Same happens with Mancubi or any enemy that attacks in volleys.

In terms of excessive brown-ness, I wouldn't criticize Doom II as much as I would dunk on Final Doom. Plutonia especially is really bad with its brown and red monotony. Cocoa Puffs Breath, though, is cut from another cloth: LunchLunch did way better than TeamTNT in that he knows how to play with shades and tones. Plus, detailed well-minded lighting, a sorely lacking factor in all IWADs except OG Doom. Oh man, with a blood color fix and Nashgore, this map can become a modern art piece, maybe even more than Pale Monument. Brown is a great baseline for splatters, footprints and pools of all bands of the rainbow 🤪 Fellow GZDoom players, I recommend this combo.

Rewatch it slowly. CG teleports in & starts firing immediately, hitting revenant, whose scream you can hear, with like the 1st bullet. That triggers the response.

In just three minutes and forty seconds (starting at @9:16), Cino eliminated 1441 demons, averaging 6.55 kills per second(!) Now that's what I call efficiency 😅 Well, maybe some of those were infighting kills but they all count the same... Bravo sir, I just might just emigrate to Holland!👏 🇱🇺
