Ah, my sweet summer decino before he made all these "Doom Analysis Videos". Why did the tracers not hurt Spider Mama? Why did the Revenant not cross the road to chase Doomguy? I am watching this 5 hours in and getting frustrated. He seems to be making the same mistakes over and over again. Not firing enough blasts at the beginning, then moving forward too early before the revenants have had a time to disperse. It's like he is not learning from his errors, even though he has failed at the same strategy again and again multiple times.

Hey. The midi sample packs that come with gzdoom are actually a tad bit off tune. I encountered this when going through different midis, especially with songs like through the fire and flames. You gotta fix it yourself or find a midi pack that has a fixed tuning.

@decino yea it turns out this was an issue with specifically roland packs and not gzdoom, which means they recorded / exported this with the default sc-55 pack and its out of tune slightly. Normally producers can correct things like the pitch bends easier, but I notice when you write music in programs like guitar pro or bring in tab files and export as midi they dont translate over very well, you get these way off bends and sometimes weird sounding harmonies. Youll need to bring it into a more midi focused editor and fix it after. IIRC its a certain generator thats out of tune, I think the saw wave. When you are using the guitar midi they seem to switch generators, the lower notes sound different from the higher ones. So this detuning only happens in that higher registers. I know you said its an mp3, I just thought it was an interesting note and wanted to dig into why that file ended up the way it did.

This wrong pitching is because GuitarPro uses 30 cents instead 100 cents when export midi. Well, that was bothered me ten years ago or so, when I put all my sketches to wads.

I think the midi issue is because it was made in powertab or a similar software and the playback can't understand the powertab-specific instructions on how to bend the notes. I vaguely remember this being an issue with PTE in the early 2000s

Really cool subtle detail! The silver hexagon floor changes to the rust colored one under the lights. Makes the lighting feel different without changing the actual brightness. Clever! Never seen that before.
