I was honestly thinking about relocating to Seattle when I received a job offer to move there, but the housing AND renting costs kinda made me sweat for a bit not gonna lie. So I decided to give Raleigh NC a go instead. Hope Seattle cost of living gets under control at some point, as I love the city.

Great video! I will say that Bainbridge should not be lumped in with other islands and long ferry waits. Bainbridge has bike commuters and walk ones. It’s super easy to get to Seattle. This ferry is very consistent. I lived on Orcas Island so have ptsd from those ferries but BBI is a piece of cake. BBI is not city or suburbia it’s got a great chill vibe yet is close to all DT Seattle’s amenities without wasting time sitting in traffic. Seattle also needs more Tesla super chargers those are very hard to find:(

Can confirm Seattle is VERY dogfriendly. You can take your dog virtually anywhere. I was once having dinner at a hip noodle restaurant with my friends when we bumped into their neighbors who had their large dog with them (in the restaurant). The dog hopped up excitedly, its front legs landing on ours while we sat eating at the table. I looked around nervously but nobody in the restaurant seemed even mildly perturbed. No worker intervened or said anything. Another time my girlfriend brought our small chihuahua to an Italian restaurant and they set down a bowl of food for him on the ground to eat next to the dinner table.

I like that Seattle has good Muay Thai dojos. I want to go pro in either Muay Thai or Kickboxing.

Hey, love the videos, but have noticed you consistently leave out the women’s NWSL soccer team. Go Reign!

Dallas is also ahead of Seattle in rainfall for 2024 ! Yes I am tired of the rainy city myth.

Very informative video, Bryce. One question: is the commute by car from Capitol Hill, Seattle to Downtown, Bellevue around 20-ish minutes? I'm wondering if Google Maps is accurate or not. Thanks.

Very strongly depends on when you need to be in Bellevue and exactly where you’re starting from in cap hill. It is the reverse commute so you have an advantage there but during rush hour you could easily get stuck on a congested surface street for an unpredictable amount of time, 20 minutes seems quite… optimistic. Seattle is very heavily influenced by the steep terrain and its (deeply fascinating imo) history of massive earth moving projects so there are chokepoints you might not expect/notice from a satellite view. It’s not impossible that it could routinely be 20 minutes but you’d be trading off for living closer to I-5 or maybe more to the north getting more Montlake-ish, which is going to be a different vibe than the dense part of cap hill where the fun stuff is concentrated.
