That’s why people with a lot of money say it won’t make you happy, because the value shifts. If you had 50k cash first thing you’d do is buy a new bag and heels along with a car. That’s the issue. When I was 19 I turned 2k into 6k in 3 months by trading small cap equities that surged an average of 100% intraday due to fundamental fallacies and liquidity. Eventually I had 80k and I’ve always wanted to buy a jaguar sports car which was about 40k at the time. But here’s the thing when you invest and become lucrative your thinking changes. Instead of wanting that car I questioned myself and asked why would I spend 40k on a car when I can continue investing my 40k and triple it in a year? That’s why us investors are frugal. We see no benefit in buying luxury items. Why do that when I can continue trading equities and become richer?

In reality, real estate prices can fluctuate and make you look like you are losing money depending on the market value in relation to your loan interest, rental expenses, property taxes, legal fees, and rental revenue.
