My horrific back pain brought me here - I think I'm going to build a bed from Latex Mattress Factory ........ but I may just get a topper - After all my research - I may be wrong but all we need is a min of 6 inches of rubber foam on the floor and some bed sheets.................................... could it be that simple????????

Hi Thuston, I don't recommend putting a mattress on the floor, even if you are on a second story because you might get some humidity buildup. This can lead to the development of mold. I made this mistake more than once, and ruined the mattress both times. A topper is really meant to adjust the firmness of a mattress or to add more comfort and pressure relief. It is not cost effective to buy a mattress cover, and toppers separately. Sleep EZ has a mattress builder that enables you to custom build an all-latex mattress, which is similar to sourcing all of the components yourself. The olive latex hybrid plush is my favorite mattress ever. I got construction work arthritis in my lumbar spine and I don't have the spine pain all night from other beds and foams... latex and coils are the best bed recipe on the market.

Thanks for your great reviews! Can I ask your opinion? I got the Eco Terra mattress in Medium after learning about it from you. TY! It is just a little too soft for me. I'm looking for a mattress topper to give just a touch of more support. I know Talalay is usually softer than Dunlop but I want Talalay since there is less latex smell usually. I am highly sensitive to smells cause of chronic migraine, even "natural" smells. So I found the PlushBeds talalay topper and so far have not found any mention of smell. So I am going to purchase one. Do you think I should get the Medium or Medium-Firm to just add a bit more support to my Eco Terra mattress? I am mostly a side sleeper, sometimes back but I have herniated discs in my neck so do need some support. Thank you for your recco ono Medium or Medium Firm by Plushbeds.

The Eco Terra is an 11-inch hybrid mattress, meaning that it has a fabric-encased coil system on top of which rests a 3-inch latex layer, the wool fire barrier and the cotton cover. The latex is available in medium or medium-firm. I haven't personally tried it, but just by comparing the construction and materials with similar mattresses that I have tried, I can tell that it's a great choice. The only thing is that it is not customizable. You cannot change the latex layer on the inside, as the cover does not have a zipper. So, you will need to be surer of your firmness choice before ordering. Basically, if you are a side-sleeper or all-around sleeper, go with the medium. As a back sleeper, I would recommend the medium-firm. The Cedar is great for people that like the bounce of a conventional spring mattress. If you want a customizable option with a zippered cover so you can change the latex layers around to achieve the ultimate plush feel, I recommend the Spindle (my current mattress) or the Plush Beds botanical Bliss. Both allow you to order different firmnesses of latex foam to form the core of the mattress. If you want to tweak the firmness after testing it, just open the cover and re-configure the latex layers. I have purchased the CEDAR (queen) about a year ago and as a side-sleeper felt it was too firm until it 'broke-in' months later, but now we've decided to put this in a guest room and get a Cal-King, so it's back to the "drawing-board" ...my 2nd choice was always the AVOCADO+ but now I feel it will be even firmer, so I'm debating between the NATURAL ESCAPE and the LUXURY BLISS or the ECO TERRA ...wish I could bounce around on all 3 :))) BTW, I'm 6'3" @ 215lbs with wide(ish) shoulders.

Hello VoyT, all the choices you mentioned are great. Considering your body type, I would definitely recommend a hybrid mattress (coils + latex foam). The three mattresses you mentioned: NATURAL ESCAPE, LUXURY BLISS or the ECO-TERRA are hybrid mattresses so these are great choices. The Luxury Bliss has an extra inch of thickness so it may be slightly more accommodating if you are a side sleeper. However, if you found the Cedar mattress too firm, you might find the ones you mentioned as firm or even firmer. The Cedar is about as plush as you can get. You don't want a mattress that is too plush, as the lack of support may have negative health consequences for your joints etc. Note that most mattresses I feature on www.naturalmattressfinder.com come with a 90+ day sleep trial. Hi Barbara, thanks for commenting! Both mattresses are an excellent choice for side sleepers or side-back sleepers. They are also similar thickness with the Luxury Bliss at 12-inches and the Brentwood Home at13-inches in thickness. So, in terms of pressure relief, both are an excellent choice. The Brentwood Home may offer a bit more pressure relief, as it has a zoned and wave-cut latex layer. This is a more technically advanced natural latex layer and reacts differently to the increased pressure demands of your hips and shoulders. Please note that the Brentwood Home is a medium-plush feel, whereas the Luxury Bliss gives you a choice between medium and medium-firm. Yes, the Botanical Bliss is an excellent choice for side sleepers. This is an all-latex mattress. It has a core of three layers of latex that offer great pressure relief. Please note that it comes in two different firmnesses. As a side sleeper, I suggest going with the medium firmness. You also have a choice of 9, 10 and 12 inches for the height. Depending on your body weight and budget, you may want to select one of the thicker mattresses. Side sleepers need more pressure relief, as the pressure is concentrated at the hips and shoulders. @@jamal_biggums Hi Tim, yes a solid wood frame will work. If it is a slatted bed frame, make sure that there are no more than 3 inches between the slats. If your body weight is below 210 lbs or so, the 10-inch will be fine. If you are over 210 lbs or so, and occasionally sleep on your side, consider getting the 12-inch. I believe the mattress comes assembled. It is 109 lbs for a 12-inch queen, so you need to be at least two people to move this mattress.
