Mathew’s Coaster Vids exactly, there’s always something to appreciate about all of these “buzzkills”. @inkblowout4 жыл бұрын
Levithan's final brake run was intended to be a mid-course brake run followed by a final brake run as it levels off in the station. So technically it makes sense why it's so high and so long (as trains are easier to slow down when it's higher.) and also it's also the reason why Levithan can run with 3 trains, otherwise it would be run by 2 trains. And also Behemoth's only uses one trim from the amount of times I've been on there. Which is usually the first hill after the hammerhead turn.
@thatsmallcessna83004 жыл бұрын
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the trim on top of Lightning Rod. With all that momentum, I thought we were going to get some killer air only for the train to just slow down.

Kingda Ka, as wretched as it can be has a bad break run, on the 127’ bunny hill, killing the speed before it reaches close to its top speed again...unlike TTD, that levels out, hits over 100mph again then brakes.... Long brake run on Fury 325 at the end Alpengeist, after the last corkscrew, meanders through slow turns until you eventually hit the break run El Toro, after the rolling thunder hill and the s-curves, loses all sorts of steam after the first 3 of those turns (right-left-right)...the last of the weaker turns towards the brake run are at a much less feverish pace. Verbolten, after the drop over the water, starts to die leading up to the brake run... I guess I prefer coasters that come in hard to the brake run. Great list as always!! Your channel is superb.

The brakes on the drop of Full Throttle isn't the only thing I didn't like about the last part of the ride. On that airtime hill (I sat close to the front and back) I get basically ZERO airtime. For whatever reason the trim on I305 didn't remove the airtime from those 2 kills. I remember getting strong airtime on those, close to the level that Twisted Timbers was giving. I'm going to disagree on the straight track of Ride of Steel too; its a nice fast section which allows for some recovery after the previous intense helix, and builds anticipation for the amazing airtime hill on it. The second helix is a bigger buzzkill just due to how forceless it is. How the hell is Alpengeist's mid course not on this list? That thing ruins the second half of the ride. It goes from being a very intense coaster to a very boring one once it hits the brakes. Some argument could be made for Afterburn's Hill as well, although honestly I didn't think that the ride had that much intensity or great of pacing to begin with. But the ride does get worse after that point.

Texas Giant's last lap offers some decent airtime, but I think 2 of the elements along that lap tend to fall a bit short. Could have probably used 10 more feet.

Funny how perspective can change ones opinion. The buzz kill moment on the ride of steel clones you describe is actually a favorite of mine. I agree it’s way too long of a straight track, but this is a favorite moment of mine because it reminds me of hitting a big jump on my snowmobile. It’s just in the difference of the transition from straight flat track into that beautiful air time hill versus the normal more parabolic curve. I think because of the difference in how you enter that air time hill from straight and flat you really get slammed with a lot of positive G’s at the bottom of the airtime hill it feels awesome. For me the double helixes ruin that coaster...

The biggest buzzkill really was Ring Racer. For operating coasters I choose Naga Bay’s mid courses which are slowing you way to much down.

Ok so imagine this. The second life hill on twisted colossus is a buzzkill right, well what if rmc came back to magic mountain and speeded up the second lift. Then they added a launch to the first one. So you get a launch the first time, and a faster lift hill the second time. Tell me that wouldn’t be a good idea...

I’m very surprised that you didn’t mention the absolute worst buzzkill I’ve experienced on a roller coaster, The Beasts third trim brake after the straight track. Such an huge amount of speed that builds up on that straight section makes you think “oh my, this ride is really going to pick up now” only for almost all of the speed to be gone in a split second. The reason I don’t find this anywhere near as bad on Maverick is that the train is still moving very fast even during the transition from the trim to the turn. Anyway, glad to see another great video and I look forward to seeing more content!

I appreciate Ninja's lift hill. As someone with 39" legs, the beatings I used to take on coasters made me want to start fast, and have a bit of sit down recovery time before having to clambor out of the car.

Tbh I didn't really think the brakes on Rip Ride Rockit slowed me down at all.. Also, I don't think Irat has pacing issues, maybe that's just because I'm a Texas coaster fanboy though, lol.

You are spot on with this. I agree 100%. One left off is the Beast at Kings Island. After the first hill, tunnel, then curve to the left. There is another hill with great speed and air time. They now have a break before that hill and kills it. No more speed and air. Great video

Or all of the RMC's *STUPID SHIN GUARDS!!* WHY?! WHAT IS THE POINT IN SHIN GUARDS!? HOW DO THEY MATRTHE RIDE MORE SECURE!? They accomplish almost nothing but trapping my legs! That is why I prefer the Gerthslier trains because they only have one shin guard so at least one leg is free. I love RMC, but I don't know why they have shin guards. If you know why they exist, please tell me, so I may forgive the shin guards.
@visionist74 жыл бұрын
@@Stephenp503 I think it's to restrict your legs so the trains can be shorter and negotiate tighter turns. If you want freedom try Mack launch trains. The lapbar feels like it isn't even there and your feet are off the floor unless you're tall (sometimes being under five seven is worth it, haha).
@cynicanal1114 жыл бұрын
@@Stephenp503 Those are important for safety -- the rider's legs need to be forced into being bent, to prevent the rider from being able to slip upwards out of the restraints. On most rollercoasters, the restraint is only there to get patrons to sit down -- even if the restraints weren't there, physics would hold riders in (the airtime is either gentle or short enough that the rider would land back in the seat). This is NOT the case on RMCs, and so the lapbar has to actively hold the rider in, a duty it doesn't have on most other rollercoasters.

Mine definitely isn’t on your list. Nitro’s midcourse 😭😭. The first time I rode it I thought the ride was over. The train slows down so much and it takes some time to gain it back after. Shallow first drops are also the worst. The straight track on Superman and the trim on I305 didn’t really bother me. I’ve only ridden Nitro in the front the two times I’ve been on it. Oops.

The trim at the end of Thunderhawk at Dorney completely ruins that ride. The magnetic trims on The Beast also suck. I know the park claims they do the same thing the old skid brakes did but they sure don't feel the same. Watching your I305 POV explains why you rank it so low. It looked to be running exceptionally slow that day. On a hot day, while the trim is still annoying, you still get borderline ejector air in the back.

I hated this brakes on Thunderhawk on what should be a great airtime section leading back to the station.
