I shot this one in early December in south Alabama. I have several more videos from that trip to edit as well. Thanks for watching.

I live near Valley Forge (zone 6B i guess) & we have plenty of deer. Beautiful but eat lots! Can you do a talk on plants they sometimes do not eat. I am interested in Joe Pye Weed which does not do well deep south & Pink Muhley Grass. Both of great benefit to Bees & Butterfly! You do a fantastic job with information to gardeners so thanks.

Thank you. I have a ton of varieties on the channel that are deer resistant, but I have never put them in a playlist. I will work towards that.

Hello Jim, what about autumn sweetheart azaleas? I never heard anyone talk about that specific variety of encore azaleas.

Thank you so much for showcasing zone 6. These are beautiful, and I’ve always loved azaleas, and now they bloom more than once a year. Yeah!!

Hi Jim. Thanks for thinking of us up here in 6b. I already have a few of these, but of course I need a few more. I agree with Lisa R about your photo - - keep it real.

Happy New Year! This is EXACTLY what I needed to know because I'm looking to plant two different azaleas this weekend and our temps here in So Cal have been very very cold. Thanks for the 411! =)

Hi Jim, My comment has nothing to do with azaleas. I'm glad you put back a real photo of yourself verses you using that cartoon image. Thanks again for sharing all your great knowledge.

Which Encore varieties has hot pink flower?
@marywhitfield75535 жыл бұрын
Jim do these encore must have full sun? I need ones that can flower with 3-4 hrs of sun per day. Will the autumn fire fit this sun requirement?

Forgot to tell you. Where I want this is on the north front of home.

Hi Jim, can azaleas be planted in a west facing lot ?
@JimPutnam6 жыл бұрын
Encore Azaleas can take more direct sun than traditional Azaleas, but a west facing wall is probably too much

I have most of them , planted last spring and fall , in zone 6 b, their leaf are not green in winter .
@JimPutnam6 жыл бұрын
It is variety dependent for sure. Even on the old fashioned varieties that was always true. Thanks for watching.

Hey Jim I have 13 of these in different varieties I planted in October. They seem to be doing well except for some thinning out, is this normal? The ones in your videos are always so full and green. Thanks for any info.
@JimPutnam6 жыл бұрын
It is completely normal for Azaleas to shed some leaves in the fall. It might be more than normal, because of some transplant shock. Let them bloom in the spring and then shear them a little and they will fill back in. Good luck with them.

Im 6a but in a bad winter where i am can be like 4b. which happens at about every 4-5 yrs.

You would definitely want to use them as foundation plants then. Keep them out of the wind for sure. Thanks for watching.

I'm in 6A, and it gets pretty frickin' cold. (I know Canadians, North Dakotans, etc. laugh at this). It always seemed a little weird to me that a plant that can survive 10 below will somehow not survive a Zone 5 or lower climate where temps get down to 20 below or lower. I mean, 10 below, again, if you'll excuse the meteorological technospeak...is FRIGGIN' COLD! It can't feel "warm" even compared to 20 below. They're both frostbite-in-minutes temperatures for humans. It's just hard to understand a plant in 10 below being like, "this is fine" but suddenly croaking 10 degrees colder.
